Patent number: 8696826Abstract: Electrodes are conveyed edgewise along a path. The electrodes can be supported by their bottom peripheral edge and can be maintained generally vertically. A plurality of wash nozzles are positioned adjacent to the path on opposing sides thereof. Wash spray from the nozzles is directed to impinge sides of the electrode. The nozzles can be arranged linearly to form a nozzle array angled so that the wash spray impinges an upper portion prior to a bottom portion of the electrode. Separate sections for rinsing or pre-washing can be provided within a washing chamber. Used water can be collected and recycled.Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 2009Date of Patent: April 15, 2014Assignee: EPCM Services Ltd.Inventors: Robert Stanley Jickling, Gordon Steven Iverson

Patent number: 8337679Abstract: The present invention relates to electrolytic cathode assemblies typically used in the refining or winning of metals and to methods of manufacturing and using same. The cathode assembly comprises an electrically conductive hanger bar and a deposition plate attached along an upper end to the hanger bar to define a joint. The cathode assembly further comprises a protective covering having lateral edges and surrounding the hanger bar and a portion of the upper end of the deposition plate so as to substantially enclose the joint and to leave end portions of the hanger bar exposed outside of the lateral edges of the protective covering. Each end of the protective covering includes a corrosion resistant material positioned to form a substantially continuous seal between the protective covering and the hanger bar, thereby to at least hinder fluid flow into the protective covering. Methods of manufacturing and using the electrolytic cathode assemblies are also described.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 2007Date of Patent: December 25, 2012Assignee: EPCM Services Ltd.Inventors: Robert Stanley Jickling, Gordon Steven Iverson

Publication number: 20100263321Abstract: There is disclosed an acoustic mount for dampening vibrations between two structures mounted or coupled in use to each other. The mount includes a vibration dampening member having a first portion, a neck and a second portion. The second portion has a head. The dampening member has a bore running through the first portion, neck and head to receive a component, such as a fixing member such as a screw, for engaging or coupling to a first one of the two structures. A support member is also described to which a second one of the two structures is secured or coupled in use. The support member has an aperture to receive the dampening member. The dampening member is an integral unit and the head can be passed through the aperture and positioned such that said head resists withdrawal through the aperture. The support member is interposed between the first portion and the second portion.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 28, 2010Publication date: October 21, 2010Inventors: Benjamin Gordon Stevens, Kurt Schnepf

Patent number: 6297070Abstract: The optimization of two technologies (CMOS and CCD) wherein a pinned photodiode is integrated into the image sensing element of an active pixel sensor. Pinned photodiodes are fabricated with CCD process steps into the active pixel architecture. Charge integrated within the active pixel pinned photodiode is transferred into the charge sensing node by a transfer gate. The floating diffusion is coupled CMOS circuitry that can provide the addressing capabilities of individual pixels. Alternatively, a buried channel photocapacitor can be used in place of the pinned photodiode.Type: GrantFiled: November 8, 1999Date of Patent: October 2, 2001Assignee: Eastman Kodak CompanyInventors: Paul P. Lee, Robert M. Guidash, Teh-Hsuang Lee, Eric Gordon Stevens

Patent number: 5703642Abstract: The present invention teaches how to maintain temporally the increased collection region (depletion depth) of detectors within a solid-state image sensor. A novel clocking method is used to control charge transfer within charge coupled devices to reduce cross talk with a resulting improvement in the MTF and quantum efficiency. Specifically, the present invention employs a pulsing type of clocking technique wherein the duty cycle is adjusted to maximize the depletion region. These pulses are spaced equally from phase to phase within the multiphase clocking scheme. The present invention is specifically designed for high speed CCD devices in which improvements in the MTF and QE are desired. Time Delay Integration (TDI) image sensors are such devices that have high speed characteristics as a common requirement and the application of the present invention to these devices is discussed.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 1994Date of Patent: December 30, 1997Assignee: Eastman Kodak CompanyInventor: Eric Gordon Stevens
