  • Patent number: 5924886
Abstract: An electrical connector includes a bail-type latch for latching the connector to a complementary mating connector. A housing has a base and laterally-spaced upstanding opposite sides. A generally U-shaped bail latch has a pair of spaced leg portions with upper ends joined by a bight portion and lower ends with inwardly directed shaft portions pivotally mounting the bail latch to the base for pivotal movement between and outwardly extending open position allowing mating of the connectors and an inwardly extending latching position. Knee portions of the leg portions grip the opposite sides of the housing to define a stored position for the bail latch. Stops on the shaft portions prevent movement of the bail latch outwardly beyond its open position. Redundant stop shoulders on the leg portions also prevent movement of the bail latch outwardly beyond its open position. The stops engage offset anchoring recesses in the housing to provide for polarization of a pair of bail latches at opposite ends of the housing.

  • Patent number: 5695366
Abstract: A shielded electrical connector includes an elongated dielectric housing having opposite ends and a plurality of transverse extending terminal-receiving cavities. A pair of elongated metal shells have narrow elongated flanges interfacing at a longitudinal seam. At least one shell includes a tab projecting from the flange thereof into an opening in the flange of the other shell. The tab is are bent in the longitudinal direction behind the flange of the other shell.

  • Patent number: 5502620
Abstract: An IC card includes a circuit board having a generally planar substrate with at least one electrical component mounted thereon. A receptacle including terminals is mounted at an edge of the circuit board. A pair of cover panels sandwich the circuit board therebetween. At least one conductive ground clip holds the cover panels in assembled condition sandwiching the circuit board therebetween. A ground circuit on the circuit board engages the grounding clip. At least a portion of the grounding clip is exposed exteriorly of the IC card for engaging an appropriate ground on an appropriate mating electrical apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5474178
Abstract: A tray is provided for supporting electrical connectors of the type having an elongated dielectric housing within which electrical terminals are secured. The housings can vary in length according to the size of the connectors. The tray is adaptable for supporting different sizes of connectors with housings of different lengths. The tray includes a first support for supporting adjacent ends of a plurality of the electrical connectors in a side-by-side array thereof. A second support is movably mounted on the tray to a plurality of different positions spaced from the first support for supporting opposite ends of different sizes of the connectors.

  • Patent number: 5249982
Abstract: A panel mounted, sealed electrical connector assembly is provided for mounting in an aperture in a panel. The assembly includes a connector housing having a front mating end adapted to be inserted through the aperture from a first surface to at least a second surface of the panel in order to mate with a complementary electrical component. Locking arms project from the housing to mount the housing in the aperture. A sealing boot engages the housing rearwardly of the first surface and extends toward and engages the panel surrounding the aperture. Resilient flanges surround a substantial portion of the periphery of the housing and are adapted to be biased against the first surface of the panel. The sealing boot includes a forward peripheral lip adapted to be received between the flanges of the housing and the first surface of the panel surrounding the aperture, whereby the flanges resiliently bias the lip against the first surface and provides an environmental seal about the aperture.

  • Patent number: 5131867
Abstract: An electrical connector is disclosed for mounting in an aperture in a panel or the like and includes a housing. A yieldable anti-vibration arm projects from the housing for engaging the panel when the connector is mounted in the aperture in the panel to prevent vibration between the connector and the panel. A recess is formed in the anti-vibration arm at a location to relieve stress in the arm during yielding thereof.

  • Patent number: 4698025
Abstract: A low profile right angle phone jack for use with printed circuit boards is disclosed. The jack includes a dielectric housing member having a modular plug receiving socket formed therein, a forward mating end and a rearward end. The socket is defined by a plug-receiving opening forned in the forward mating end with a lower latch receving region and extends rearwardly to meet a back surface provided in the housing member. The housing member is mounted with its forward mating end disposed beyond an edge of the printed circuit board. The forward mating end of the housing member is offset downwardly so that the lower latch receiving region of the plug receiving opening is below the upper surface of the circuit board. In addition, the housing member cooperates with the printed circuit board surface to define the socket whereby the upper surface of the circuit board is the bottom surface of the socket.

  • Patent number: 4159862
Abstract: A female guidance and polarizing means for either the male or female parts of a separable electrical connector which carry mating eletrical contacts. The polarizing and guide means is mounted in predetermined positions on either the male or female connector parts. The removable bushing has a portion which is keyed to the male polarizing pin to permit the connector parts to be mated only when the correct parts are presented to each other. The removable female polarizing guide bushing is made of resilient plastic material having a keyway, a flange, a polygonal body section, and a plurality of fingers with shoulders for engagement with the connector parts. The bushing is inserted into a bore in the connector body. The bore comprises a series of three axially aligned apertures. The fingers snap into one of these apertures and the bushing is thereby retained from moving longitudinally in one direction. The flange fits into an aperture which has a diameter greater than that of the flange.
