  • Patent number: 8800102
Abstract: The forwardly projecting wand of a conventional commercial carpet steam cleaner is propped up by a connected stabilization leg extension so as to reduce the weight imposed upon the operator by the cleaner during its operation. The stabilizing leg extension is provided the same cleaning capabilities the conventional cleaner has so that, modified in this way, the number of cleaning members is doubled and twice as much of the cleaning area is covered with each stroke of the wand. Handlebars are added to further ease the task and an attached stowage nest is incidentally included for a supplementary cleaning extension.

  • Patent number: 7689724
Abstract: An apparatus, system and method of sharing device data from a peripheral device by at least a first and a second computer where the peripheral device coupled with the first computer. The apparatus includes a device emulator coupled between the first computer and the second computer, the device emulator adapted to pass the device data from the first computer to the second computer in a format used by the peripheral device. Device data is received at the first computer, and it is determined whether the device data should be processed by the first computer, and the device data is passed to the device emulator for transmission to the second computer. In a method implementation, the determining operation may examine whether the first computer is the intended target of device data. The device data may be received at the device emulator and the device data may be encoded in a format used by the peripheral device, and transmitted in the format to the second computer.

  • Publication number: 20080140872
Abstract: An apparatus and method for coupling a host computer to one or more peripherals or for coupling peripherals to one another. In one example, the apparatus includes a hub having an upstream port for coupling with the host computer and one or more downstream ports for coupling with the one or more peripherals; and a local host dynamically coupled with the upstream port. In one example, when the host computer is not coupled with the upstream port, the local host communicates with the peripherals; and when the host computer is coupled with the upstream port, the local host disconnects from the upstream port so that the host computer communicates with the peripherals through the hub. In this manner, the apparatus may be used to couple peripherals to a host computer, or when a host computer is not present, the data from the peripherals may be communicated through the local host. Other embodiments are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20070068496
Abstract: A novel flow control valve for metering a fluid flow between a pressure chamber and a discharge space, and a fuel metering device utilizing this flow control valve are disclosed. The flow control valve is a tapered toroid, rotating about a fixed axis. A seal means, fixedly mounted to the valve, fluidically isolates the pressure chamber from the discharge space when the valve is in its closed position. The fuel metering device utilizes said tapered toroidal flow control valve to deliver a precisely metered amount of a preferably gaseous fuel to an internal combustion engine. The fuel metering device comprises a rotary actuator capable to move the toroidal valve about a fixed fulcrum. Means, including springs, are provided to close the valve when the rotary actuator is de-energized. The device further comprises a rotary position sensor, which, in co-operation with said rotary actuator enable accurate angular positioning of the valve.

  • Patent number: 5727167
Abstract: A thresholding mechanism and method for performance monitoring of memory array access distribution times is disclosed. A data request signal sent to the memory hierarchy activates a first counter, having a first count value. A clock coupled to the first counter increments the first count value with each clock cycle, while also decrementing a decrementer having a predetermined threshold value. The first counter is deactivated by a completion signal when the data request is completed. A second counter having a second count value is incremented when the first count value is greater than the threshold value by the time the data request is complete.

  • Patent number: 5640518
Abstract: A mechanism is provided in a microprocessor bus interface to eliminate the turnabout in those cases where the same slave is involved in consecutive read data bus tenures or where the same master and slave are involved in consecutive write data bus tenures. A new optional signal is added to the bus interface, called pre-last transfer acknowledge. The signal is asserted by the slave one cycle before the last transfer acknowledge signal is asserted. The signal is intended to be received by the system's bus arbiter. If the current data tenure and the next data tenure are both read operations directed to the same slave (such as the memory controller) or both write operations from the same master to the same slave, then the arbiter may grant the data bus to the master of the next data tenure the cycle following the assertion of the pre-last transfer acknowledge indicator.

  • Patent number: 5626117
Abstract: An electronic ignition timing control system including a mechanism for retarding the ignition timing for all or a predetermined subset of the cylinders in a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine during cold starts. Spark timing is reduced for a balanced subset of the cylinders for a short time after the engine is started in order to transfer additional heat to the exhaust system to more quickly raise the temperature of the catalyst and thereby reduce undesired emissions.
