Patent number: 5056182Abstract: A vehicle windshield wiper structure has a wiper arm connected to a wiper head and supports a wiper blade which is adapted to be forced onto the surface of the windshield glass. A spring is provided to force the wiper blade into engagement with the windshield glass surface. The spring is engaged at one end with an intermediate portion of the wiper arm and at the other end with an end of a swingable lever which is pivotably mounted on the wiper head. The other end of the swingable lever is provided with a cam follower roller which is adapted to be engaged under a resilient force applied by the spring with a cam provided on a stationary part of the vehicle. The cam has a profile which is slanted at the opposite end portions so that the resilient force depressing the wiper blade into engagement with the windshield glass surface is decreased at each end of the stroke of movement of the wiper to thereby decrease the noise which may otherwise be produced when the wiper movement is inverted.Type: GrantFiled: September 7, 1990Date of Patent: October 15, 1991Assignees: Aisin Seiki Kabushiki Kaisha, Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Ryoichi Fukumoto, Tokihiko Yamamoto, Gosaku Terabayashi, Eiichi Hamada

Patent number: 4621223Abstract: A system is disclosed for energizing an electric motor for forward or reverse rotation, which motor operative to open or close a side window pane of a door or a sun roof panel of an automobile. The motor is energized for forward or reverse rotation in accordance with the status of a pressure sensitive switch which is mounted on a window frame to detect the presence of an object or hand and an operation of up/down command changeover switches. If the presence of an object is detected by the sensor during the forward rotation of the motor which is effective to close the window pane, a self-hold circuit is triggered or set, and the motor is energized for reverse rotation. The motor is deenergized at a given time interval after the sensor has ceased to detect the object. The motor remains at rest as long as the self-hold circuit is set. In certain embodiments, the self-hold circuit is reset when up command changeover switch is moved from its up position to its non-operative position.Type: GrantFiled: July 5, 1985Date of Patent: November 4, 1986Assignees: Aisin Seiki Kabushikikaisha, Toyota Jidosha KabushikikaishaInventors: Yuichi Murakami, Kenichi Komuro, Taneichi Kawai, Gosaku Terabayashi, Hisatoshi Ohta

Patent number: 4410061Abstract: In a passive seatbelt system, an occupant restraining webbing can be automatically fastened to or unfastened from an occupant in accordance with the condition of the occupant getting into or out of an automotive vehicle. When required, a webbing driving means is driven for a predetermined period of time for fastening or unfastening the webbing. Furthermore, when the webbing has moved to a webbing fastened position or unfastened position within the predetermined period of time, an electric power fed to the webbing driving means is cut off, whereby the webbing driving means can be reliably protected even if an overload acts on the webbing driving means.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 1981Date of Patent: October 18, 1983Assignee: Toyota Jidosha Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Gosaku Terabayashi

Patent number: 4387853Abstract: A washing liquid injection device comprising a pair of washing liquid injection nozzles. Each of the washing liquid nozzles is arranged on a window molding which covers the lower periphery of the rear window glass. A washing liquid conduit is arranged under the window molding. A portion of a washing liquid feed passage is formed in a molding retainer which serves to fix the window molding onto the rear window glass.Type: GrantFiled: July 8, 1981Date of Patent: June 14, 1983Assignee: Toyota Jidosha Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Hiroshi Sarai, Gosaku Terabayashi

Patent number: 4345352Abstract: A window wiper for a vehicle comprises a wiper blade, holding a blade rubber, a wiper arm connected to the wiper blade, a wiper operating means for operating the wiper arm and the wiper blade to wipe a wind sealed glass of the vehicle, a slide member projecting from the central portion of the wiper blade into a downward wiping direction and a guide member having a stop portion provided on the lower edge of the wind sealed glass at a position corresponding to the slide member. When the wiper is stopped, the wiper blade moves downwards to its stopped position and the slide member slides along the guide member to be mounted thereon and is stopped by the stopper portion of the guide member. As a result, the wiper blade is lifted up by the guide member at its stopped position and the blade rubber is not pressed against the wind sealed glass.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 1980Date of Patent: August 24, 1982Assignee: Toyota Jidosha Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Gosaku Terabayashi

Patent number: 4344502Abstract: A passive seatbelt system is provided of the kind where an occupant of a vehicle can engage a part of the seatbelt webbing with a convenience holder provided on the vehicle to take the seatbelt webbing off the occupant when he gets out of the vehicle. Detectors are provided for sensing when a seat is occupied, when the door is closed, when the seatbelt webbing is withdrawn or engaged in the convenience holder and when the vehicle's speed exceeds a predetermined speed. When these conditions are presented, automatic release means releases the seatbelt webbing from the convenience holder so that the seatbelt webbing automatically surrounds the occupant.Type: GrantFiled: November 5, 1979Date of Patent: August 17, 1982Assignee: Toyota Jidosha Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Gosaku Terabayashi

Patent number: 4252342Abstract: A safety seatbelt system which automatically provides a safety seatbelt around a passenger when he takes a seat in a vehicle and closes a door. Once the seatbelt is put around the passenger, he cannot remove the seatbelt while driving the vehicle. This system comprises a hand brake switch and a hand brake switch relay, and a solenoid magnetizing circuit for supplying magnetizing current to a solenoid to prevent the seatbelt from being hooked and removed from the passenger as long as the hand brake is released, said solenoid magnetizing circuit forming a second solenoid operating system.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 1979Date of Patent: February 24, 1981Assignees: Toyota Jidosha Kogyo Kabushiki Kaisha, Kabushiki Kaisha Tokai Rika Denki SeisakushoInventors: Gosaku Terabayashi, Tatsushi Kubota, Mitsuaki Katsuno

Patent number: 4236141Abstract: An automatic mounting and alarming circuit for a seat belt of a vehicle capable of automatically fastening the seat belt to a rider of the vehicle upon sitting on the seat, as well as warning the rider of a state where the seat belt is not or can not be fastened. The automatic fastening and alarming circuit includes a seat switch for detecting the sitting of the rider on the seat, a door switch for detecting the opening and closure of a door, an automatic fastening control circuit for supplying a releasing signal to an electromagnetic means to unlatch the retained seat belt upon judging the sitting state of the rider by detection signals delivered from both of the switches, a fastening detection switch for detecting the suitably fastened state of the seat belt to the rider and an alarming circuit for generating alarm information to the rider upon detection of the not-fastened state of the seat belt by detection signals delivered from the seat switch and the fastening detection switch.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 1979Date of Patent: November 25, 1980Assignees: Toyota Jidosha Kogyo Kabushiki Kaisha, Kabushiki Kaisha Tokai Rika Denki SeisakushoInventors: Gosaku Terabayashi, Tasuku Nakano, Tadanao Hamamoto
