  • Patent number: 10427282
Abstract: In a rotary impact tool according to an aspect of the present disclosure, an impact mechanism rotates an output shaft by a rotational force of a motor and, when a torque equal to or greater than a given value is externally applied to the output shaft in a direction opposite a rotational direction of the output shaft, the impact mechanism intermittently applies an impact force as a momentary torque to the output shaft in the rotational direction of the output shaft. A protection unit stops the motor or reduces a rotational speed of the motor on condition that an abnormal impact detection unit detects the abnormal impact. A control unit controls activation of the protection unit differently when the rotational direction of the motor is set to a reverse rotational direction in comparison with when the rotational direction of the motor is set to a forward rotational direction.

  • Patent number: 10322498
Abstract: An electric power tool in one aspect of the present disclosure comprises a motor, a hitting mechanism, a hitting detector, and a control unit. The control unit is configured to set a control amount of the motor so that the motor rotates at a lower speed than a speed in the target rotation state during an initial driving period, and switch the control amount to a final control amount corresponding to the target rotation state when the initial driving period elapses. The initial driving period is a period from when generation of a hitting force is detected by the hitting detector until a predetermined first time period elapses, after the motor is started driven.

  • Patent number: 9853586
Abstract: A motor driven appliance comprises a battery, a motor, at least one switch, a control unit, an abnormality detection unit, a determination unit, and a processing unit. The at least one switch comprises an operation switch. The control unit controls driving of the motor by controlling power supply from the battery to the motor when the operation switch is turned on. The abnormality detection unit detects abnormality of the appliance. The determination unit determines whether the detected abnormality is a first type abnormality that can be cleared when the operation switch is switched from on to off, or is a second type abnormality that cannot be cleared even if the operation switch is merely switched from on to off. The processing unit is configured to perform a specific process when it is determined that the detected abnormality is the second type abnormality.

  • Patent number: 9312795
Abstract: An electric power tool includes a motor with a rotor having a permanent magnet; a control unit that sets a control amount of the motor in accordance with operation of an operation portion and that drive-controls the motor based on the control amount; and a number-of-rotations detection unit that detects the number of rotations of the motor. During driving of the motor, when the number of rotations detected by the number-of-rotations detection unit has reached an upper limit number of rotations set in advance, the control unit shifts drive control of the motor to rotation control, in which the control amount is made to be increased or decreased so that the number of rotations of the motor becomes a predetermined target number of rotations.
