  • Patent number: 7845171
Abstract: A supercharged internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle has a cooling circuit, in which a working medium is recycled, which is conveyed at least partially in a vaporous or gaseous physical state. At least one expander unit is provided which is operatively connected with an output shaft of the internal combustion engine via a power train. Via a conversion of energy contained in the at least partially vaporous or gaseous working medium in the expander unit, an output shaft of the expander unit is moveable. The expander unit is embodied as a two-cycle reciprocating engine, which is operatively connected directly or indirectly via the power train with the output shaft of the internal combustion engine.
