  • Patent number: 6681685
Abstract: A device for producing milk froth for cappuccino, comprising: a nozzle arrangement disposed downstream of a steam supply line, and containing mixing vacuum chamber into which a steam-nozzle opening opens, and in which an air-milk-mixture supply line, leading from a pre-mixing chamber, terminates, and with the pre-mixing chamber being connected to an air conduit and a milk supply line. The nozzle arrangement further includes a calming portion disposed at an exit of the vacuum-chamber, with one end of the calming portion forming at least one discharge opening for releasing a steam-air-milk mixture from the mixing vacuum-chamber to the outside. The calming portion comprises a plurality of calming conduits that have a parallel flow direction, and that each form a respective discharge opening at one open end for discharging a steam-air-milk-mixture partial flow to the outside.

  • Patent number: 5785256
Abstract: A steam tube assembly for an espresso making machine includes a steam tube having a longitudinal axis and an outlet end; and a nozzle head attached to the steam tube at the outlet end. The nozzle head has a plurality of nozzle bores distributed in a circular array. Each nozzle bore has an inlet in communication with the outlet end of the steam tube and an outlet through which steam flowing in the steam tube is discharged. The nozzle bores diverge from one another as viewed from the inlet toward the outlet thereof and form an acute angle with the longitudinal axis of the steam tube.

  • Patent number: 5769135
Abstract: A steam outlet tube assembly for preparing beverages includes a steam tube having a terminal length portion including an outlet end. The outlet end of the first conduit is located at the terminal length portion of the steam tube. There is further provided a second conduit having an outlet end communicating with the steam tube at the terminal length portion thereof; and a mechanism for selectively placing the second conduit into an unblocked position and into a blocked position. In the unblocked position the steam passing through the steam tube draws liquid through the first conduit and draws air through the second conduit to effect a discharge of a steam/liquid/air mixture through the outlet end of the steam tube. In the blocked position the steam passing through the steam tube draws liquid through the first conduit, to effect a discharge of solely a steam/liquid mixture through the outlet end of the steam tube.

  • Patent number: 5447631
Abstract: A permanent filter for coffee grind in an espresso maker includes a pot-shaped filter element having a bottom including several relief slots. The relief slots each have a width smaller than a mean diameter of particles of the coffee grind and a length which is a multiple of the mean diameter of the particles of coffee grind. The use of this permanent filter element accomplishes uniformly satisfactory espresso results independently of the type of coffee used, the fineness of grind and the dust content of the ground coffee.

  • Patent number: 5335588
Abstract: A device is disclosed for the preparation of milk froth for cappuccino (milk-coffee beverage) to be employed as an accessory to coffee or espresso makers or steam preparation machines equipped with a superheated steam generator and a steam pipe. A venturi is disposed at the outlet end of the steam pipe and has an associated air intake conduit and a milk intake conduit that are arranged in such a way that the outlet opening of the air intake conduit and the outlet opening of the milk intake conduit open in the venturi in the zone of greatest subatmospheric pressure. Due to the subatmospheric pressure created in the venturi by the flowing steam, air and milk are sucked in and mixed with the superheated steam in the diffusion path of the venturi. Thus the three-component mixture of steam, air and milk required for the generation of milk froth is created already in the venturi and the desired milk froth is available at the outlet of the venturi.

  • Patent number: 4835861
Abstract: An electric shaver wherein the motor housing carries a separable frame for confinement of the cutter and the frame carries a separable casing for an apertured foil which overlies the cutter in assembled condition of the shaver. The frame has a window which is adjacent one side of the cutter and serves for insertion of the casing so that the latter can be attached to or detached form the frame only when the frame is separated from the motor housing. The coupling between the frame and the casing has complementary male and female coupling elements which are designed to confine the casing to movements at right angles to the longitudinal direction of the motor housing. The latter carries a reciprocable slide for a trimmer which can be moved to several positions with reference to the apex of the foil but remains in the general plane of the slide.
