  • Patent number: 7011268
Abstract: For the winding of a material web on a driven winding roll, it is cut through after the completed winding of a winding roll and the start of the following web is fastened on a winding core. The web is fed in the winding roll via a guide device, preferably consisting of a winding roller, and, after being cut through in a guide channel laid around a winding tube. In order to be able to wind the web with alternating outer sides into a winding roll, the web is fed, according to the desired outer side, from the left or from the right on winding in the winding tube. The winding tube is driven with a corresponding one of two opposite directions of rotation.

  • Patent number: 6305635
Abstract: A method is disclosed for winding a continuous web of material on a core mandrel, the winder comprising a cutter that actuates to provide a new end of web material. The cutter itself comprises a source of vacuum for creating an airflow around a new core mandrel between the mandrel and a guide wall which extends around at least one fourth of the mandrel surface, the airflow causing the new web end to follow the mandrel around and tuck said new end between the mandrel circumference and the tensioned web extending between the new mandrel and upstream equipment.

  • Patent number: 5275348
Abstract: A method of winding a web of a polymer film having lateral edges onto a sequence of winding cores to form a sequence of web coils comprising guiding said web by a deflection roller onto a winding drum and then onto a web take-up where the web coils are formed; the winding drum and the take-up each being provided with separate drives for rotating the winding drum and the web coils and for generating a tensile force that acts on said web; the winding drum has a central axis of rotation and a cylindrical contact surface for frictional and essentially non-slipping engagement with the web along a dynamic segment of the contact surface; this segment has a width defined by the web edges and a length defined by a first and a second end line, both extending transversely on the contact surface and parallel to the axis of rotation; the method further comprising continuously monitoring a first value of the tensile force that acts upon the web at the first end line and a second value of said tensile force acting upon the

  • Patent number: 4852820
Abstract: A method of winding a continuously moving web, such as a flexible polymer film, by forming leading web edges and contacting them in sequence with a number of cores for adhesion thereon so as to start winding consecutive web portions onto the cores; when a web portion of a predetermined length has been wound onto a given core, the web is cut to form both the trailing edge of the wound web portion as well as the leading edge of the next web portion; instead of using a conventional sticky material, such as an adhesive tape, for adhesion of each leading edge of the web on the corresponding core for initiating winding thereof an electrostatic potential difference is provided between the core surface and the leading edge so that the latter will be caused to electrostatically adhere to the core surface.

  • Patent number: 4693157
Abstract: For cutting polymer films, e.g. a continuously moving web of polymer film, there is accomplished relative movement between the film and a cutting edge which is a substantially continuous and generally razor-sharp edge located at the periphery of an indexing steel sheet disc having a generally circular shape and a thickness in the same order of magnitude as the thickness of the polymer film; after maintaining the disc in a first angular position where an incremental portion e.g. 1 to 10 degree of a 360.degree. periphery, of the cutting edge is in film-cutting position for a period of cutting time, the disc is indexed and a subsequent incremental portion of the edge is moved into film-cutting position and held there for another period of cutting time. This is repeated until a major part and preferably all of the continuous edge has been indexed. Then, the disc is exchanged. When using an automated indexing actuator, e.g.

  • Patent number: 4191341
Abstract: An apparatus and method for winding continuous webs onto a core mandrel wherein the web is in contact with a rotating winding drum and is guided onto an empty core mandrel supported in a first operating position where winding is started and where a partially wound core mandrel is produced; the partially web-wound mandrel is transferred into a second operating position without interruption of coil formation when a predetermined coil of web has been formed; the web is cut by an automatic knife and the leading web edge produced is taken by another empty core mandrel supplied from a magazine into the first operating position; the fully wound coil is transferred from the second operating position to storage and the operating cycle is repeated; a force sensor is connected with the winding drum to measure the force that is exerted by the outer surface of the coil on the mandrel in the second operating position and a mechanical compensator is connected with the support that holds the mandrel in the second operating p
