  • Patent number: 9721177
Abstract: During an information-extraction technique, visual suitability indicators may be displayed to a user of the electronic device to assist the user in acquiring an image of a document that is suitable for subsequent extraction of textual information. For example, an imaging application executed by the electronic device may display, in a window associated with the imaging application, a visual suitability indicator of a tilt orientation of the electronic device relative to a plane of the document. When the tilt orientation falls within a predefined range, the electronic device may modify the visual suitability indicators to provide visual feedback to the user. Then, the electronic device may acquire the image of the document using an imaging device, which is integrated into the electronic device. Next, the electronic device may extract the textual information from the image of the document using optical character recognition.

  • Patent number: 9552245
Abstract: The disclosed embodiments provide a system that manages access to an online user account. During operation, the system uses stored authentication credentials for a user to access the online user account of the user. Next, the system aggregates financial data for the user from the online user account. Upon detecting an error associated with aggregating the financial data, the system obtains error information describing the error from a web page associated with the error. Next, when the user subsequently accesses the aggregated financial data, the system displays the error information to the user to facilitate resolution of the error by the user.

  • Patent number: 8660945
Abstract: A method and system for identifying small businesses and/or small business operators includes a process for identifying small businesses and/or small business operators whereby financial transaction data for one or more consumers is obtained from one or more sources. The one or more consumers' financial transaction data is then analyzed to identify financial transactions typically associated with ownership and/or management of a business, i.e., business management related transactions. If more than a threshold number of business management related transactions associated with a given consumer are identified, that consumer is identified as a potential small business owner and/or manager.
