Abstract: A self-contained disposable changing mat (2) that is one piece and liquid proof and comprises at least two layers (4, 6) each with an absorbent working area (8) from which a part of a person is able to be attended to, a waste disposal bag (10) that hangs down when the self-contained disposable changing mat (2) is used on a raised work surface (12), the waste disposal bag (10) having a mouth (18) that gapes open so that the waste disposal bag (10) is ready for receiving waste produced during use of the self-contained disposable changing mat (2), the layers (4, 6) being partially separable from each other and connected together in or adjacent to the mouth (18) of the waste disposal bag (10) whereby an upper used layer is able to be placed in the waste disposal bag (10) in order to expose a clean lower layer available for further use during treatment of the person, and sealing means (20) for sealing the waste disposal bag (10) after use thereby containing the waste.
