  • Patent number: 6729970
Abstract: A hybrid golf club shaft set is provided that includes a composite shaft subset including shafts formed entirely of composite, a composite/metal shaft subset including shafts formed of composite/metal combination shafts, and a metal shaft subset including shafts formed entirely of metal. The composite shaft subset preferably includes the long irons with the lowest lofts such as the two, three, and four iron shafts. The composite/metal shaft subset preferably includes the middle irons with medium lofts such as the five, six, and seven iron shafts. The metal shaft subset preferably includes the short irons with the highest lofts such as the eight, nine, and wedge shafts.

  • Publication number: 20040043825
Abstract: A set of golf club shafts is provided including a plurality of shafts progressively increasing in length. Each shaft includes a butt section formed of a first material coupled to a tip section formed of a second, different material. The length of each tip section is inversely proportional to the overall length of the shaft. As such, the tip sections progressively decrease in length as the plurality of shafts progressively increase in length.

  • Publication number: 20020094891
Abstract: A multilayer hockey stick is provided having improved impact resistant and energy absorbing characteristics. The hockey stick includes a shaft having a body, an energy absorbing layer and an impact resistant layer. The energy absorbing layer and impact resistant layer are applied to select areas of the shaft of the hockey stick which are prone to failure due to stick-to-stick contact.

  • Publication number: 20020082111
Abstract: A golf club shaft is provided including a metal tip section and a composite butt section. The butt section includes a reduced diameter portion telescopically received within an axial bore of the tip section. An adhesive is disposed between the tip section and the butt section to secure the two together. An insulating layer may be disposed between the tip section and the butt section to prevent galvanic corrosion.

  • Patent number: 5944616
Abstract: A tubular metal blank for the production of golf club shafts for iron clubs, the blank being at least 44" in length, having a cylindrical tip portion, a cylindrical butt portion, and an intermediate, integral, tapering portion, remaining parameters of the blank including the material, the taper angle, the length of the intermediate portion, and the wall thickness being so chosen as to produce a blank of a stiffness characteristic such that by appropriate trimming of the butt and tip portions of the blank, the blank can be used to produce a shaft for any golf club from a 1 iron to a sand wedge in any of the recognized flex ranges Tour Stiff, S, R and A. There is also disclosed a method of producing a golf club shaft and a means of determining how much to cut from the blank to produce a shaft.
