Publication number: 20030110720Abstract: Panels (16) for use with access flooring (10) having a thick, resilient pad (20) bonded directly to and covering the entire surface of the panel (16). The pad (20) acts like the backing layer of a conventional floor treatment by absorbing impact and attenuation sound. A reinforced face cloth module (22) having only a face layer (24) and a stabilizing layer (26) is used to cover the pad (20) to protect the pad from wear and to provide an attractive floor treatment. The reinforced face cloth module (22) can be detachable or bonded directly to the pad. Alternatively, hook and loop fasteners can affix the pad to the face cloth module.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 4, 2002Publication date: June 19, 2003Inventors: Raymond A. Berard, Ray C. Anderson, Graham A. Scott, David Whitley

Publication number: 20030107774Abstract: The invention relates to a display device which comprises a printed replication of a plurality of, in the embodiment, ceramic floor tiles. The array is digitally replicated using a digital camera to provide a visual image which is a printed, four colour, replica of the floor tiles. The replica, in A5 size on a foldable substrate such as paper, can be folded to A4 and taken by a prospective purchaser to a point of intended use, such as a home, where the visual effect of the tiles can be seen without the need to take an actual tile to the point of use.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 12, 2002Publication date: June 12, 2003Inventor: Jeremy Graham Scott

Patent number: 6526704Abstract: Raised access flooring utilizing panels having a thick, resilient pad bonded directly to and covering the entire surface of the panel. The pad acts like the backing layer of a conventional floor treatment by absorbing impact and attenuation sound. A reinforced face cloth module having only a face layer and a stabilizing layer covers the pad to protect the pad from wear and to provide an attractive floor treatment. The reinforced face cloth module can be detachable or bonded directly to the pad. Alternatively, hook and loop fasteners can removably affix the pad to the face cloth module.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 2000Date of Patent: March 4, 2003Assignee: Interface, Inc.Inventors: Raymond A Berard, Ray C. Publication number: 20020089150Abstract: A snowboard boot includes an upper and a binding interface that is adapted to engage with a snowboard binding. The interface is supported from the boot upper so that even when the interface is rigidly engaged by the binding, the boot upper can advantageously roll or flex side-to-side relative to the interface, and consequently the snowboard, to provide a rider with a desirable feel of foot roll. The boot may be configured so that a segment of the boot upper rearward of its toe portion can flex in the side-to-side direction relative to the binding interface, while the forward toe portion of the boot upper remains fixed against side-to-side flexibility. A flexible connection may be employed to couple the binding interface to the snowboard boot upper to allow the segment of the lower portion thereof to flex relative to the binding interface. The flexible connection may extend along a substantial length of at least one of the heel portion, the in-step portion and the toe portion of the upper.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 5, 2001Publication date: July 11, 2002Inventors: Edward J. Patent number: 6339982Abstract: A cutting mechanism having a movable carriage and two cutters. Each cutter has an anvil that opposes a blade, and one of these is a roller that rolls against the other for progressively biasing material against the blades, producing cuts through the material. The rollers are rotatably mounted to the carriage, which is mounted to a lead screw that controls the position of the carriage. As the carriage moves across the material, the rollers roll, and the material is cut. The space between the anvil and the blade of at least one of the cutters can be varied to disengage that cutter so that the rolling of the roller will not cut the material. The engagement and disengagement of the cutter is dependent on the position of the carriage.Type: GrantFiled: January 14, 1999Date of Patent: January 22, 2002Assignee: Esselte NVInventors: Clive Graham Angel, Clive Lawrence Ayling, Graham Scott Gutsell

Patent number: 5967675Abstract: The present invention relates to a label printer that has a plurality of keys for defining a label to be printed. Such keys include keys for defining the format of the label. The label printer also includes a display for displaying an image of the label, a printing unit for printing the label and a control unit for controlling the label printer to operate in a layout mode. In the layout mode, the control unit causes the display to display an image of the label in a selected label format and a plurality of layout parameters for defining the label format. Each of the layout parameters is alterable. Thereby, the label image displayed on the display alters with each selection of one of the layout parameters by actuating the format keys.Type: GrantFiled: September 23, 1998Date of Patent: October 19, 1999Assignee: Esselte N.V.Inventors: Nicholas James Hastings, Graham Scott Gutsell, Ian Morgan George, Martin Christopher Edwards

Patent number: 5857790Abstract: A tape printing device for printing frames with complicated shapes on a label. The device includes a mechanism for inputting a plurality of characters, selecting a frame from a plurality of frames of different shape, and generating print data for the characters and the selected frame. Also, a print head is used for printing the characters and the frames onto the tape according to the generated print data. Only a small amount of memory is required to represent frames, and the operator is offered a large selection of frames. Instead of storing dot patterns for each frame, each frame is represented with a program which can be executed on the tape printing device to generate the pixel pattern corresponding to the selected frame and to print the selected frame on the receiving medium according to the generated pixel pattern. Since the programs generate the pixel pattern dynamically as required by the operator of the device, less memory is required than prior art devices.Type: GrantFiled: June 2, 1997Date of Patent: January 12, 1999Assignee: Esselte NVInventors: Graham Scott Gutsell, Nicholas James Hastings, Ian Morgan George, Martin Christopher Edwards

Patent number: 5857788Abstract: A set of tape holding cases including at least two cases of a first type and at least two cases of a second type, with the cases of the first type housing image receiving tape of respectively different tape parameters and cases of the second type housing image transfer tape of respectively different tape parameters. Each case of the first type has a first cooperating component, depending on the tape parameter of image receiving tape, and each case of the second type has a second cooperating component, depending on the tape parameter of image transfer tape. The first and second cooperating components are arranged to selectively cooperate with each other to allow cooperation only of a properly selected case of the first type with any one of the cases of the second type and otherwise to exclude cooperation of the cases. Also, a thermal printing device having cassette receiving portions for these tape holding cases for use in thermal transfer printing.Type: GrantFiled: November 8, 1996Date of Patent: January 12, 1999Assignee: Esselte NVInventors: Graham Scott Gutsell, Geert Heyse
