  • Patent number: 7744647
Abstract: Intraocular lens implant (10) for providing accommodation for near vision includes an optic (20) centrally disposed in a flexible membrane (30) and at least one haptic (40) outwardly extending from the flexible membrane. The flexible membrane is adapted in use to facilitate translatable movement of the optic in response to attempted accommodation by the ocular substrate.

  • Publication number: 20080188792
Abstract: A phacoemulsification needle is provided having a rod member (12) arranged for transmission of ultrasonic energy to an ocular substrate to effect emulsification thereof, and a hollow tube member (14) having an inner surface (18) defining a lumen arranged for aspiration of emulsified ocular material, the hollow tube member (14) being disposed about the rod member (12), the rod member (12) having a distal end (11) and a proximal end (13) and the hollow tube member (14) having a distal end (19) and a proximal end (17).

  • Patent number: 7357779
Abstract: An aspiration flow modulation device (10, 20, 50) having an irrigation line component (14, 24, 52) and an aspiration line component (12, 22, 54). A fluid communication lumen (12, 28, 75) extends between the components so as to provide a flow of fluid to reduce pressure variations in the event that the aspiration line becomes occluded in use.

  • Publication number: 20030114928
Abstract: A dehydrated intraocular lens implant is first folded and then inserted into the eye through an incision in the eye. The folded dehydrated intraocular lens implant is then allowed to unfold, hydrate in the eye and expand to its desired dimensions. The intraocular lens implant is comprised of a polymer, wherein the polymer is flexible and elastic when dehydrated so as to facilitate the intraocular lens implant to be folded and inserted into the incision in the eye. The polymer also expansile when hydrated, such that after insertion into the eye, the intraocular lens implant hydrates and expands.

  • Patent number: 6488709
Abstract: An intraoocular lens implant (10) including an optic (12) and a haptic (20). The haptic (20) includes a first portion (22) extending outwardly in a first direction from the optic (12), a second portion (26) which has an outermost end (32), extending outwardly in a second opposing direction to the first portion (22), and a bend member (24) intermediate and interconnecting the first portion (22) and the second portion (26). An end of the first portion (22) remote from the bend member (24) is connected to the optic (12) at a haptic optic junction (29) and the outermost end (32) of the second portion (26) is located on a side of the haptic optic junction (29) opposite to the side on which the bend member (24) is located.

  • Publication number: 20020019605
Abstract: An intraocular irrigation/aspiration device (10) including a hollow shaft (12) with a distal tip portion (20) and a proximal portion (24). The shaft (12) includes a lumen (18) extending through the shaft (12) wherein the lumen (18) is of reduced cross-sectional area in the proximal portion (24) so as to regulate aspiration of fluid and reduce post occlusion surge phenomena. Preferably, the device (10) includes an outer sleeve (26) which is flexible so as to enable a small incision in the eye to engage closely with the shaft (12).
