  • Patent number: 12124354
Abstract: The system and techniques described herein include receiving a transaction report from a log dataset, where the transaction report includes a class identifier (ID) for each of the transactions, a transaction execution count, and a total transaction response time. A first listing of the transactions is generated. An average number of unique transactions assigned to all of the classes and an average transaction execution count are calculated. A second listing of the transactions is generated that includes all of the transactions for the class IDs where the count of unique transactions assigned to the class is greater than the average number of unique transactions assigned to all of the classes. For each class ID and transaction name, the second listing is updated to identify one or more of the transactions as candidate transactions for running in a P-WFI region when the conditions are met.

  • Patent number: 12026178
Abstract: System and techniques for determining an optimal number of regions in an IMS system include receiving a transaction report from a log dataset. A first table is generated from the transaction report, where the first table includes a class identified by a class identifier (ID), a number of regions the class is assigned, and a total percent region occupancy by the class. Classes ineligible to be shut down are identified based on a set of criteria and the classes ineligible to be shut down are eliminated. For each remaining class assigned to a threshold number of regions, candidate regions from the threshold number of regions eligible for shut down are identified and remaining regions from the threshold number of regions that can handle a workload from the candidate regions eligible for shut down are identified, where the remaining regions represent the optimal number of regions in the IMS system.

  • Publication number: 20230127920
Abstract: Systems and techniques for scheduling transactions as wait-for-input (WFI) or regions as pseudo-wait-for-input (P-WFI) include receiving a transaction report. The transactions from the transaction report are filtered using the plurality of metrics to generate a list of eligible WFI transactions or regions for running as P-WFI. The list of eligible WFI transactions or regions for running as P-WFI is filtered by applying a first system benchmark that is based on a total number of executed transactions to generate a list of top-eligible WFI transactions or regions for running as P-WFI. A total number of dedicated processing regions are calculated for each of the transactions on the list of top-eligible WFI transactions or regions for running as P-WFI. A scheduling report with a final list of top transactions eligible for scheduling as WFI or regions for running as P-WFI is generated based on the total number of dedicated processing regions.

  • Publication number: 20100093019
Abstract: A device for use in handling a sample, the device including a number of deformable cavities provided on a surface of a substrate, at least one of the cavities being a sample cavity for receiving a sample and a number of fluid channels connecting the cavities such that in use, selective deformation of the cavities causes the sample to be selectively combined with one or more substances.

  • Patent number: 3939579
Abstract: This disclosure is for an Audio-Visual training device having both a projectable film tape and an audio tape with control indicia on the audio tape in addition to recorded audio messages. The tape indicia are used to control a small processor which governs both tape and film movement. A keyboard on the device is used to enter replies to queries to a user from the tape and film and the processor will determine both tape and film movement in response to the answer to a query. The system is capable of multiway branching to present to the viewer the proper information pertaining to his answer. Several counters are available to count trials, correct or incorrect responses, etc., and to control tape and film movement in accordance with the counter readings. A proctor light may be turned on to call for personal assistance and to lock up the machine when a student is in trouble and the program does not have the proper branch to clear up the difficulty.
