  • Patent number: 11941179
Abstract: A system and method for displaying images of internal anatomy includes an image processing device configured to provide high resolution images of the surgical field from low resolution scans during the procedure. The image processing device digitally manipulates a previously-obtained high resolution baseline image to produce many representative images based on permutations of movement of the baseline image. During the procedure a representative image is selected having an acceptable degree of correlation to the new low resolution image. The selected representative image and the new image are merged to provide a higher resolution image of the surgical field. The image processing device is also configured to provide interactive movement of the displayed image based on movement of the imaging device, and to permit placement of annotations on the displayed image to facilitate communication between the radiology technician and the surgeon.

  • Patent number: 8361162
Abstract: This invention relates to an orthopaedic joint prosthesis implant kit (2). The implant kit comprises a stem component (4) of an orthopaedic joint prosthesis which is intended for articulation with a mating component of the joint. The stem component has a distal end (6) and a proximal end (8), and a neck part (10) at the proximal end, and is configured for fixation in a bone cavity-using bone cement material with the distal end within the cavity and the proximal end at the opening of the cavity, and with the neck part protruding from the cavity towards the mating component of the joint. The implant kit further comprises a positioning kit (18), at least one spacer (20, 22, 24) for location between the wall of the cavity and the stem component at its proximal end, and a delivery device (26).

  • Patent number: 7771486
Abstract: A cup assembly of an orthopaedic joint prosthesis comprises a cup-shaped component which is rotationally symmetrical about a polar axis, and which is hollow to receive a rotationally symmetrical head of an component of the joint prosthesis. The cup-shaped component has a groove in its outer surface which extends around the component in a plane which is approximately perpendicular to the polar axis. A spacer component comprises a plurality of spaced apart spacer elements which are connected by a spacer web. The spacer web, but not the spacer elements, can be fitted into the groove in the outer surface of the cup-shaped component.

  • Publication number: 20060089655
Abstract: An instrument (1) for deploying a bone cement material in a bone cavity, the material being formed from two reactive components which, when mixed, react to form a useable cement comprises a chamber (2) in which the components of the material can be mixed, and a mixing tool which extends into the chamber (2), and which can be manipulated from outside the chamber (2), to cause the components of the material to mix. Material can be discharged from the chamber (2) after it has mixed through an outlet (3). A piston (8), which can be moved through the chamber (2) to apply positive pressure to mixed material within the chamber (2), can displace the mixed material from the chamber (2) through the outlet (3) into the bone cavity (32, 54).
