  • Publication number: 20050131047
Abstract: Therapeutic methods of treatment, compositions and foodstuffs are described which contain isoflavone compounds described by general formula (I), in which Z is H, R1 is H, or RACO where RA is C1-10alkyl or an amino acid, R2 is H, OH, or ORB where RB is an amino acid, or CORA where RA is as previously defined, W is H, A is H or OH, and B is selected from (a), (b), (c), or W is H, and A and B taken together form a six-membered ring selected from (d), or W, A and B taken with the groups with which they are associated comprise (e), or W and A taken together with the groups with which they are associated comprise (f) and B is (g) wherein R3 is H, CORA where RA is as previously defined, CO2RC where RC is C1-10alkyl, or CORB where RB is as previously defined, R4 is H, CORD where RD is H, OH, C1-10alkyl or an amino acid, CO2RC where RC is as previously defined, CORE where RE is H.

  • Publication number: 20050119301
Abstract: This invention relates to a method for inhibiting expression or activity of an adhesion molecule associated with an endothelial cell by contacting the adhesion molecule or endothelial cell with one or more isoflavone compounds or derivatives thereof. The invention also relates to a method of preventing or reducing the risk of restenosis after angioplasty, and to a method for the treatment or prophylaxis of atherosclerosis, coronary artery diseases, other cardiovascular diseases and inflammatory diseases mediated by adhesion molecules. The invention further relates to pharmaceutical compositions useful in these methods, and to methods for the manufacture of such medicaments.

  • Publication number: 20050049424
Abstract: Isoflavone compounds of the formula (I) or (II) Where R can be R7? or OR7? or O and the formula (III) is either a single or double bond extends to Y then Y is an optionally substituted benzyl. W, R1?, Zo? R2? and R7? are as defined in the specification. The compounds are useful for the treatment of certain diseases and disorders, including cancer and inflammation.

  • Publication number: 20050036962
Abstract: A method for protecting skin from either UV-induced immunosuppression or from UV-induced skin damage comprising the topical administration of a composition containing an extract of soy or clover, and/or the isoflavone compounds genistein, biochanin, dihydro-daidzein, diadzein, formonentin, dihydro-geneistein, 2-dehydro-O-desmethyl-angolensin, tetrahydro-daidzein, equol, dehydro-equol, O-desmethyl-angolensin, or 6-hydroxy-O-desmethyl-angolensin. • Patent number: 3947673
Abstract: In known correlation apparatus for identifying the delay between two signals, the current polarity of the lagging signal is repeatedly compared with sets of successively earlier samples of the polarity of the leading signal which are temporarily stored in a binary word register, the results are counted for each digit position of the word, and a signal is generated indicating the position for which the count first reaches a given value. Such apparatus is improved by using as the register a plurality of serially connected shift registers which are operated at different integrally related speeds.
