Publication number: 20220096736Abstract: An infusion pump for administering controlled doses of fluid comprises a pump body 2 and cap 3 attachable to the pump body 2 to retain a medicament fluid receptacle 4 in the pump body 2, The fluid receptacle 4 is connected to a tube 12 for dispensing the fluid. The tube 12 is directed through a normally closed valve within the cap 3. The pump body 2 comprises a propulsion device engaging with a piston support 6 of the fluid receptacle 4, coupled to a retaining member, a drive system coupled to the retaining member and a rigid member coupled to the drive system. Actuation of the drive system enables the propulsion device to deliver fluid. In addition, the rigid member moveably projects into the cap to open the normally closed valve to allow the passage of fluid.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 20, 2020Publication date: March 31, 2022Inventors: Graham LACY, John DANBY, Stefan TAAL, Hugo REVELLAT, Vasilios KANELLOPOULOS, Karsten FISCHER, Thomas LACY

Publication number: 20210251797Abstract: An outlet valve for an ostomy appliance comprises an axle defining a hollow bore for receiving a liquid output from the ostomy appliance. The axle comprises a curved lateral wall. An outlet element comprises a cap arranged concentrically with the axle and an outlet tube affixed to the cap. A valve opening is defined in the curved lateral wall. The cap is rotatable around the axle to move from a closed configuration in which the valve opening is not in liquid communication with the outlet tube to an open configuration in which the valve opening is in liquid communication with the outlet tube. The outlet valve further comprises an outlet element seal configured to provide: sealing between the cap and the axle around a circumference of the axle; and sealing between the valve opening and the intake opening when the outlet element is in the closed configuration.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 18, 2021Publication date: August 19, 2021Inventors: Simon HOLROYD, Dominic BAKER, Stefan TAAL, Graham LACY

Patent number: 7621511Abstract: A fragrance disperser includes a first source (25) of fragrance associated with a first flowpath (21) and a second source of fragrance (26) associated with a second flowpath (23). A fan (17) provides a flow of air along the first flowpath (21) or the second flowpath (23) to release the associated fragrance. A flow controller (38, 52) is movable by an actuator (34) to open and close the flowpaths (21, 23) so that only one fragrance is released at a time or a proportionate mixture of the two fragrances is released.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 2004Date of Patent: November 24, 2009Assignee: Carbonate LimitedInventors: Paul Richard Hayes-Pankhurst, Keith Graham Lacy, Paul Simon Wells

Publication number: 20080066750Abstract: A counter mechanism useable with a dry powder inhaler is disclosed. The mechanism features first and second indicator members rotatable about a central axis. The indicator members have counting indicia visible to indicate inhaler doses remaining or dispensed. A coupling transmits rotary motion from the inhaler to the second indicator member when the inhaler is charged with a dose. A slave wheel, rotatable about an axis offset from the central axis, has a drive transfer wheel on one face and a gear on an opposite face. The gear engages the second indicator member, the drive transfer wheel intermittently engages and rotates the first indicator member in response to rotary motion of the second indicator member.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 28, 2007Publication date: March 20, 2008Applicant: Aventis Pharma LimitedInventors: Stephen Minshull, Duncan Young, Andrew Ledgeway, Simon Wells, Graham Lacy, Julian Swan

Publication number: 20060051228Abstract: A pump is formed by a housing (10) having an inlet (11) for connection to a source of fluid and an outlet (12) for pumped fluid. A rotor (15) is rotatable within the housing and the inlet (11) and the outlet (12) are spaced apart around the path of the rotor (15) in the housing. The rotor (15) has surfaces (16a, 16b, 16c, 16d) that form, with the housing (10), closed chambers (18a, 18b, 18c, 18d) which travel around the housing (10) to convey fluid from the inlet (11) to the outlet (12). The housing (10) carries a seal (14) that is located between the inlet (11) and the outlet (12) in the direction of travel of the rotor (15). The seal (14) co-operates with the rotor surfaces (16a, 16b, 16c, 16d) as the surfaces (16a, 16b, 16c, 16d) pass between the outlet (12) and the inlet (11) to prevent the formation of a chamber during said passage and so prevent fluid flow from the outlet (12) to the inlet (11). Such a pump is easily and cheaply produced and is particularly useful in medical applications.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 2, 2005Publication date: March 9, 2006Inventors: Richard Hayes-Pankhurst, Graham Lacy, Christopher Nightingale

Publication number: 20050272401Abstract: A wearable, mobile and/or portable terminal for use in an inventory management system. The terminal includes a terminal housing, a battery pack removably receivable within an external battery-receiving cavity of the terminal housing, and a battery latching mechanism that secures the battery pack in the battery-receiving cavity in a latched condition. The battery pack has an unlatched condition in which the battery latch mechanism is disengaged from the battery pack. The terminal and battery pack are environmentally sealed to, for example, preclude entry of water into the interior of the terminal when the terminal is immersed.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 21, 2005Publication date: December 8, 2005Applicant: Vocollect, Inc.Inventors: Douglas Zatezalo, Mark Mellott, Ryan Zoschg, Michael Davis, Nicholas Barnes, Graham Lacy, Ian Heseltine

Publication number: 20050095899Abstract: A communication system includes a voice-directed portable terminal with a voice user interface that is configured for being able to communicate with a computer system. The communication system includes a peripheral device having a cord coupled with the portable terminal and a connector adapted to disconnect from the portable terminal when a sufficient force is applied to the cord. This disengages the peripheral device from the portable terminal. The ability of the cord to break-away from the portable terminal prevents damage not only to the connector, but also to the cord, peripheral, and terminal.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 5, 2004Publication date: May 5, 2005Applicant: Vocollect, Inc.Inventors: Mark Mellott, Douglas Zatezalo, James Logan, Ryan Zoschg, Michael Davis, Graham Lacy, Steven McLellan, Ian Heseltine

Patent number: 6419048Abstract: A trestle comprises two pairs of legs which can be opened and closed relative to one another. A beam has two depending poles and each pole is clamped by a clamping mechanism carried by an associated pair of legs. When the legs are open, the clamping mechanism is operative to hold the associated pole against movement relative to the associated legs whereas when the legs are moved together, this releases the clamping mechanism and allows the position of the pole to be adjusted.Type: GrantFiled: May 4, 2000Date of Patent: July 16, 2002Inventors: Laurence Robinson, Graham Lacy

Patent number: 6174146Abstract: An electric bilge pump for collecting liquid found in a bottom of a vessel or any other place. The pump is formed of three parts in axial alignment. The assembly is secured to a surface in substantially a horizontal position. An electric motor is enclosed in a cylindrical jacket and has an output shaft with an impeller at its distal end. A second part of the housing is tubular and defines a chamber with the impeller in the chamber. The chamber has an axial inlet with a tangential outlet. A filter is fitted over the inlet to filter out any unwanted debris.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 1998Date of Patent: January 16, 2001Assignee: Munster Simms Engineering LimitedInventors: Graham Lacy, David Edgerley, Alastair Eves, Norman Rehill
