Abstract: A technique for handling user-interface gestures in non-rectangular regions of a graphical user interface includes creating a class comprising an event handler for an onmouseover event and an event handler for an onmouseout event. The technique further includes adding each of a group of graphical elements to the class. Adding a graphical element to the class includes adding a reference to the graphical element to the class and attaching the event handlers to the graphical element. The technique then identifies a specific graphical element in the group that triggered an invocation of one of the event handlers. The technique then determines the closest border of the specific graphical element to the mouse pointer. In the event another graphical element in the group shares the closest border, the technique stops either the onmouseover or onmouseout event from propagating. A corresponding apparatus and computer program product are also disclosed.

Abstract: An illustrative embodiment provides a computer-implemented process for navigation through historical stored interactions associated with a multi-user view that receives a previously saved multi-user view, wherein the multi-user view comprises a set of artifact attributes, receives an identified filter from a user, and presents a filtered view to the user. The process further determines whether to amend the filtered view, and responsive to a determination to amend the filtered view, generates an amended view from the filtered view, and responsive to a determination to save the amended view, saves the amended view as one of a new view or an updated view.

Abstract: A dispensing machine (1) with a release mechanism for selectively dispensing an item to a user, including a device (20) which is actuable by for example a remote control (8) to selectively enable operation of the release mechanism, wherein the dispensing machine (1) is a cigarette machine for a venue, and a card is associated with the venue so that, once the card is identified, a user's age is assumed and the device (20) is actuated for an item to be dispensed.

Abstract: A system is disclosed for controlling the output level of an audio signal, in which a voltage controlled amplifier (18) is provided in addition to a high fidelity motorized fader (17). During normal (first mode) operation, the level of the audio signal is controlled directly by said fader, which may be adjusted in response to data from a storage device (23). On selecting a second mode of operation, the level of the audio signal is controlled by means of the voltage controlled amplifier, arranged to receive said stored data. In addition, said amplifier also receives trimming signals from said manually adjustable fader and movements of said fader in this mode are also stored, so that said modified data may be combined with the original data, to produce new data for use in said first mode of operation. The invention provides "trim mode" while providing a high fidelity resistive fader for normal operation.
