  • Patent number: 6873640
Abstract: A laser diode collimating system comprises a collimating lens for receiving a laser beam from a laser diode LD. First and second orthogonally arranged cylindrical lenses are provided through which the laser beam passes. The cylindrical lenses are positioned so as to have a substantially common focal plane and operate substantially independently on the divergence and/or convergence of the laser beam in its fast axis and slow axis directions respectively. A convex lens, through which the beam passes, has a focus lying in the said common focal plane.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 24, 2002
Date of Patent: March 29, 2005
    Assignee: Fujifilm Electronic Imaging Ltd.
    Inventors: Grahame Bradburn, Norihisa Takada

  • Patent number: 5995247
Abstract: A method of input scanning an image using a detector comprising an array of radiation sensors, the method comprising1) exposing the radiation sensors to radiation from the image over a plurality of sampling periods, and for each respective sampling period:2) obtaining a single data value from each radiation sensor;3) summing the data values obtained during the sampling period;4) determining a peripheral response value in accordance with the sum obtained in step 3), wherein the peripheral response value for each sampling period is determined independently of the peripheral response values for the other sampling periods; and5) modifying the data values in accordance with the peripheral response value obtained in step 4).
