  • Patent number: 10084910
Abstract: Video relay services, communication systems, and methods are disclosed connecting users with N11 services in a video relay service environment. A video relay service may comprise at least one server configured to manage a customer database including customer records for audibly-impaired users of the video relay service, manage an N11 database including alternate numbers corresponding to N11 codes for a plurality of different locations defined by political boundaries, receive incoming video calls including an N11 code from a calling party, resolve the N11 code to an appropriate alternate number for an N11 service based on a political boundary for the calling party responsive to a query of the N11 database, establish a first connection between a video communication device associated with the calling party and a call assistant station associated with a sign language interpreter, and establish a second connection between the call assistant station and the N11 service.

  • Patent number: 9185211
Abstract: Apparatuses and methods are disclosed for enabling a first user at a first communication device to communicate with a far-end user at a second communication device via a relay service providing translation services for the first user. The communication system may be operable in a plurality of modes, including a tone mode in which an audible tone conveying a message may be transmitted to the second communication device regardless of a format of the character data generated by the first communication device. A text mode may include sending a text signal corresponding to the message being displayed at the relay service regardless of the format of the character data. Switching modes may be responsive to a determination that the far-end user is a live person. Related methods of operating the communication system are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20080143831
Abstract: The present invention relates to systems and methods for notifying a user of a video monitoring system event while other video monitoring system related functions may be performed in the background of a multi-use computing environment. For example, a graphical pop-up, priority image, and/or notification sound may be transmitted to a user within a multi-use environment to alert the user that a particular video monitoring system related event has occurred. One embodiment of the present invention relates to a video monitoring system disposed within a multi-use computing and communication environment. The system includes a video input source, and a control module disposed within a multi-use computing environment. The control module includes a user notification system configured to continuously monitor the video data for local video monitoring related events and transmit a notification to a user of the multi-use computer system.
