The elongated member includes an outer surface having a pair of ridges with a recessed portion therebetween. The ridges lie in a plane which intersects the edge of the door. The elongated member may lie flush with the edges of the skins forming the door or be imbedded within the skins to lock the elongated member into the door structure.

A groove extends around the endless third surface and forms a chamber in the core. First and second sheets of protective material are placed over the first and second surfaces respectfully.
