  • Patent number: 7107731
Abstract: A structural building system including an improved, structural-load-bearing, building component, such as a building panel, having front and back sections, an insulating core, integral symmetrical joinery, a thermal break, and at least one shear resistance connector The panel is asymmetrical about one axis, and is designed to be directionally positioned with respect to the maximum anticipated force. A shear resistance connector array may be positioned between the front and back sections or may be integral to the front or back section. A face sheet may span one or more than one building panel, and provides structural support to the building system.

  • Patent number: 6584740
Abstract: A structural building system comprised of interconnected improved, frameless structural-load-bearing panel components, each panel component having front and back sections, an insulating core, integral symmetrical joinery, a thermal break, and at least one shear resistance connector. The panels are asymmetrical about one axis, and are designed to be directionally positioned with respect to the maximum anticipated shear force. The panel components interconnect to form frameless panel sections out of which the building system is constructed, which requires no exterior framing support members. The panel component and the resultant panel sections resist all three primary directions of force required of structural wall, roof and floor systems; the panel sections being yet stronger than the individual panel components.

  • Patent number: 5927032
Abstract: An insulated structural building component, such as a building panel, having front and back face sheets and interconnected joining sides to define an interior area of the building component. An insulating core having one or more throughholes extending at least partially therethrough is positioned within the interior area. A unitary shear resistance connector array is positioned between the front and back face sheets and includes a web portion and one or more shear resistance connectors projecting away from the web and into the one or more throughholes. The shear resistance connector array in one embodiment being an integral portion to a thin outer skin surrounding the insulative core, with one or both front and back face sheets being connected to the outer skin.

  • Patent number: 5440846
Abstract: A composite building component is formed of a cement composition having a sufficient amount of diatomaceous earth and/or other thermally insulating material(s), in specific ratio to entrained air contained in fluid pockets, to provide substantial thermal insulation and resistance to decomposition which would otherwise occur at very high temperatures. The cement composition is poured/placed in a 2 to 6 sided pre-formed box or half box with integral insulating core. The pre-formed box becomes bound to the poured/placed cement composition and upon curing, becomes an integral part of the final product. The cement composition may also include an amount of fibrous material and/or organic binder(s) (integrally and/or impregnated) sufficient to increase the tensile strength, handleability, and machineability of the building components. A cement composition is initially created to include a plurality of fluid pockets as the basis for achieving the features cited.

  • Patent number: 4401351
Abstract: The subject invention relates to a expandable modular system for electrically interconnecting any number of printed circuit boards to a composite motherboard. The motherboard serves as a common connection for transmitting signals to all the printed circuit boards. The subject system includes a support module adapted to hold a fixed number of individual printed circuit boards. A motherboard is mounted within each support module and includes connectors to interface with the printed circuit boards. An electrical coupler is provided which is adapted to link the motherboard of one module to the motherboard of another module. In use, the desired number of printed circuit boards are mounted in a sufficient number of support modules. The couplers are used to electrically link the motherboards of each module in series such that the combination of motherboards and couplers define the composite motherboard. Preferably, each support module includes its own power supply and cooling system.
