  • Patent number: 4226209
Abstract: An applicator for applying liquid adhesive in a desired pattern and quantity to a paper form for the reception and securing of a stencil thereto. The applicator employs a liquid adhesive storage chamber and a spaced apart applicator chamber with an intermediate metering chamber. The applicator chamber is provided with a flexible plastic material having differential densities of porosity and an impermeable coating applied to selected areas thereof to control the deposition of a measured quantity of adhesive in a particular pattern to the paper form.

  • Patent number: 4175687
Abstract: The accurate and uniform indexing of paper business forms with line hole punched margins. The index drive overcomes any possible accumulation of errors. A pawl and ratchet device is employed in the feeding of the paper form. The ratchet is rotated approximately one-half tooth beyond the ultimate desired stop. A spring urged arm then pulls the ratchet wheel back that one-half tooth turn so the pawl rests solidly in a single ratchet tooth. It is this same spring arm that pulls back the over-fed paper form. The form pull back is permitted by reason of a magnetic one-way clutch being momentarily released at the end of the mechanical feed-out. The present device is a combination of a mechanical drive with a magnetically releasable clutch to effect a constantly accurate feed out of paper forms resulting in identical positioning of each of the series of continuous paper forms.

  • Patent number: 4154640
Abstract: A machine receiving a continuous strip of multileaved business forms and carrying the forms across the machine in indexed increments. Applying a liquid adhesive at a first station in the machine to the top surface of one of the forms at a desired location thereon. Identically repeating the liquid adhesive deposition on each form as the forms are indexed through the machine and across the first station. Applying a stencil at a second, spaced apart station in the machine to each of the forms at the location of the liquid adhesive for holding the stencils to the business forms. Discharging the stencil tabbed business forms in a continuous strip from the machine.
