  • Publication number: 20220226708
Abstract: A ball bat includes a barrel portion and a tapered transition portion. An elastomeric coupler is positioned around a distal portion of a handle. A rigid sleeve is positioned around the elastomeric coupler and the handle is passed through the barrel and transition portion until the distal portion, elastomeric coupler, and rigid sleeve are positioned within the transition portion. The elastomeric coupler may be compressed by the rigid sleeve and may be stretched to be positioned around the distal portion. The distal portion may be flared. Adhesive may be used to secure the distal portion, elastomeric coupler, rigid sleeve, and transition portion to one another. Ridges on the elastomeric coupler may engage grooves in the rigid sleeve to resist rotation.

  • Patent number: 11364425
Abstract: Embodiments are directed toward a bat, such as a softball or baseball bat, that includes a handle and a barrel. The barrel is preferably coupled to the handle. The barrel preferably defines a longitudinal axis. The barrel preferably has asymmetrical composition or construction about the longitudinal axis of the barrel.

  • Patent number: 10361407
Abstract: An electrical energy storage device has electrodes positioned in a case. A feedthrough pin extends through a portion of the case. A sealant surrounds the feedthrough pin and contacts a component of the device. A seal activator is received in the sealant such that the pressure that the sealant applies to the component increases above the level of pressure that the sealant applies to the component before the sealant activator is received in the sealant. In some instances, the component is the feedthrough pin.

  • Patent number: 7826197
Abstract: A modular energy storage device comprises a customer-defined parameter, such as electrical capacity, a can that has a dimension based on the customer-defined parameter, an electrode package that has properties based on the customer-defined parameter, and a header that has a configuration that is not dependent on the customer-defined parameter. A method for producing the modular energy storage device comprises generating a standardized energy storage device configuration, receiving a customer-defined parameter, and modifying the standardized energy storage device configuration according to the customer-defined parameter. The step of modifying the standardized energy storage device configuration comprises the steps of modifying the electrode package without modifying the location of the current collectors, modifying the length of the can according to the customer-defined parameter, and using the header already developed to complete construction of the modular energy storage device.

  • Publication number: 20080106849
Abstract: Exemplary embodiments of the present invention comprise modular energy storage devices and methods for making the modular energy storage devices. An exemplary energy storage device comprises a customer-defined parameter, such as electrical capacity, a can that has a dimension based on the customer-defined parameter, an electrode package that has properties based on the customer-defined parameter, and a header that has a configuration that is not dependent on the customer-defined parameter. An exemplary method for producing the modular energy storage device comprises the steps of generating a standardized energy storage device, receiving a customer-defined parameter, and modifying the standardized energy storage device according to the customer-defined parameter.
