    Abstract: A parking meter payment device is disclosed. In an example, the parking meter payment device is a modular parking meter payment device configured for installation in a parking meter. The example modular parking meter payment device includes a modular component, and a wireless communication device in the modular component. The wireless communication device is configured to receive a parking request from a mobile computing device at a parking meter. The example modular parking meter payment device also includes a transaction processing device in the modular component. The transaction processing device is configured to validate the parking request. The example modular parking meter payment device also includes an output device in the modular component. The output device is configured to indicate that the parking request is validated.
