Patent number: 12192953Abstract: Methods, systems, computer-readable media, and apparatuses for determining a UE position within a coverage sub-area of a cell based on cell identity data are presented. In some embodiments, the UE detects one more cell identities, including a cell identity of a serving cell and possibly a cell identity of a neighbor cell of the serving cell. The one or more cell identities are included in cell identity data. The cell identity data is used in a look up of a data structure that associates coverage sub-areas of a coverage area of the serving cell with most likely positions within the coverage sub-areas and with cell identities. The result of the look up indicates that the UE is positioned at a most likely position within a coverage sub-area of the serving cell.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 2023Date of Patent: January 7, 2025Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Guttorm Ringstad Opshaug, Grant Marshall, Rayman Pon

Patent number: 10277394Abstract: A system and method for securing information associates a party with a node that communicates messages over one or more channels based on a channel access privilege. One or more authorities sign a cryptographic authorization permit (CAP) to authorize the channel access privilege, which can be a write privilege or a read privilege. In one embodiment, the authorization for the channel access privilege is based on a public key issued by an authority and the CAP comprises a cryptographic certificate digitally signed by the authority.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 2013Date of Patent: April 30, 2019Assignee: Objective Interface Systems, Inc.Inventors: Reynolds William Beckwith, Jeffrey Grant Marshall, Jeffrey William Chilton

Patent number: 10261165Abstract: Methods, systems, computer-readable media, and apparatuses for determining a position of a mobile device connected to a network are presented. In various embodiments, the mobile device obtains a synchronization status of the network associated with one or more base stations. If the synchronization status indicates that the network is synchronous, the mobile device determines the position of the mobile device using previously collected crowdsourced time correction data for the synchronous network.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 2015Date of Patent: April 16, 2019Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Mayur Shah, Guttorm Opshaug, Rayman Pon, Grant Marshall, Dominic Farmer

Patent number: 10024951Abstract: Methods, systems, computer-readable media, and apparatuses for crowdsourcing the synchronization status of a network are presented. In various embodiments, a server receives a synchronization status of a base station associated with the network. If the synchronization status indicates that the network is synchronous, the server collects information for computing time correction data. The server may send the time correction data to the mobile device for use in determining the position of the mobile device when the mobile device is connected to the synchronous network.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 2015Date of Patent: July 17, 2018Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Guttorm Opshaug, Mayur Shah, Rayman Pon, Grant Marshall, Dominic Farmer

Patent number: 8868928Abstract: A system and method for issuing a cryptographic certificate comprises describing prerequisite condition on the cryptographic certificate. The prerequisite conditions comprise membership in prerequisite group of entities. An entity may be a participant, a resource or a privilege, etc. One or more target groups of entities may be named on the cryptographic certificate. One or more prerequisite group stakeholder that authorizes an entity in the prerequisite group of entities to be added as members in another group of entities sign the cryptographic certificate. The cryptographic certificate may also be signed by target group stakeholders that authorizes an entity to be added as a member of the one or more target groups. Exemplary prerequisite conditions relate to one or more of a membership in another group of entities, a physical characteristic, a temporal characteristic, a location characteristic or a position characteristic, among others.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 2013Date of Patent: October 21, 2014Assignee: Objective Interface Systems, Inc.Inventors: Reynolds William Beckwith, Jeffrey Grant Marshall, Jeffrey William Chilton

Publication number: 20120215881Abstract: A system and method for communicating data between two nodes defines a plurality of separate partitions on each node and assigns one or more subjects to at least one of the plurality of the separate partitions. The subjects in each node communicate data with each other over one or more channels. For communicating the data, the present invention separates data communications on a channel from that of other channels. More specifically, each node runs under the control of a separation kernel (SK) that partitions the nodes to define the subjects according to an SK configuration data. A partitioning communication system (PCS) separates the communications channels according to a PCS configuration data.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 24, 2011Publication date: August 23, 2012Applicant: Objective Interface Systems, Inc.Inventors: Reynolds William Beckwith, Jeffrey William Chilton, Jeffrey Grant Marshall

Patent number: 7499712Abstract: In general, this disclosure is directed to techniques for computing a positioning solution for a mobile unit based on signals received from the satellite navigation system and the wireless communication system. The techniques allow for, and resolve, a synchronization bias that constrains a system time for the satellite navigation system and a system time for the wireless communication system relative to each other. The mobile unit may utilize the defined constraint to compute a position solution in environments where additional independent measurements would otherwise be required. The mobile unit may incorporate Receiver Autonomous Integrity Monitoring (RAIM) functionality to validate the position and time solutions derived from each of received signals. According to the techniques described herein, the mobile unit may be able to utilize the defined synchronization bias to apply RAIM or similar techniques in environments where such techniques would otherwise be indeterminate.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 2003Date of Patent: March 3, 2009Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Wyatt T.
