  • Patent number: 7634841
Abstract: A load binder for use in connection with a typical tie strap for securing a load for transport is provided. The load binder includes elements that are conformable to the shape of a particular load and which prevent the tie down from twisting upon itself. The load binder essentially comprises a body having and a handle pivotally attached to the body, a link pivotally attached to the handle, a first tie down engaging element attached to the link by a ball joint and a second tie down engaging element attached to the threaded shaft by a ball joint. The freely movable ball joints coupling the tie engaging elements to the binder allow the binder to conform to the shape of the load and also prevent the tie down from twisting upon itself. Additionally, a safety latch is incorporated into the binder which positively locks the handle in position relative to the body.

  • Patent number: 5967720
Abstract: A fastening system 10 provides a fixed fastener 60 which may be removably interlocked with a strap fastener 20. The fixed fastener 60 is typically carried by a vertically oriented planar portion of a flatbed trailer, such as a section of the vehicle's frame. The fixed fastener 60 provides a base 61 and a hook 63, having ear and nose portions 67, 68. The strap fastener 20 is typically carried by the end of a strap 101 used to secure a load carried on the flatbed trailer. The strap fastener 20 defines a fastener opening 36 having left and right ear passages 38, 40, sized to allow passage of the fixed fastener 60 when the strap fastener is rotated so that the ear portion 68 of the fixed fastener 60 passes through one of the ear passages of the strap fastener. Such passage is almost impossible to result accidentally; therefore the fasteners will remain connected during use, and must be deliberately disconnected.

  • Patent number: 5836060
Abstract: A truck strap fastener is adapted to enable a strap to be attached to either a downwardly directed hook or to a flat iron carried by standoffs attached to a trailer's frame. Flatbed trailers typically provide either a flat iron bar or a downwardly directed hook as the point of attachment for load securing tie-down straps. A fastener is disclosed that is adapted to attach to either point of attachment, and also to the tie-down strap. The fastener provides a body carrying left and right prongs which jointly fasten in place about a flat iron. Alternatively, a hook opening in the body allows a hook to pass between the left and right prongs and through the hook opening in the body.

  • Patent number: 5807045
Abstract: An interlocking flatbed trailer load strap fastening system provides a strap fastener carried by the end of a load securing strap and a fixed fastener carried by a flatbed trailer. The strap fastener may be attached to the fixed fastener only when the strap fastener is precisely rotated. The strap fastener provides a body having left and right side elements and upper and lower cross members and a curved base, together defining an upper strap opening where a load strap may be secured, and a first hook opening. Left and right prongs extending from the curved base, define a second hook opening between them. A fixed fastener provides a hook portion somewhat resembling a horse's head extending from a base permanently attached to the side of the frame of the flatbed trailer. By momentarily rotating the strap fastener, the hook portion may be inserted into the first and second hook openings. The strap fastener is then securely attached to the fixed fastener, until carefully rotated and removed.

  • Patent number: 4651990
Abstract: A detachable protective device for a goaltender hockey stick is formed as a channel with a base and upstanding front and rear panel for engaging the blade over the ice engaging portion and part way up the upstanding portion. A V-shaped slot at the heel enables the cover to be folded at the heel to wrap around the heel of the blade and to adjust for different lies of blade. The rear panel terminates at a lower upper edge so that tape wrapped around the cover and the stick can engage the stick at an exposed rear portion. Openings in the rear panel are provided to reduce the weight of material.
