  • Publication number: 20160301038
Abstract: The present disclosure provides cell housings and cell packs that are designed to serve both electrical and structural functions. Cell housing side walls can be directly joined together to create parallel connections within a module of cells. The series connections can be formed by stacking one cell on top of another cell, thus connecting the opposing polarity terminals of the two cells. The cells can be designed to support the weight of the cells above without the use of additional framework. This approach can reduce tertiary interconnection mechanisms and/or the number of components required to electrically connect and structurally support cells, thus providing increased system efficiency and/or a reduced system cost.

  • Patent number: 7940777
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method can include: receiving a packet in a device; classifying the received packet as a first packet type or a second packet type; when the packet is the first packet type, forwarding the packet to a next hop; and when the packet is the second packet type: performing forward error correction (FEC) encoding on the packet to generate repair data, modifying the packet by adding a multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) header to indicate that the packet is to be forwarded on an FEC-protected label switched path (LSP), generating an additional MPLS packet carrying the repair data, and forwarding the modified packet and the additional packet to a next hop.

  • Publication number: 20050001412
Abstract: An overhead airbag system is disclosed for use in protecting a vehicle occupant during a collision. The overhead airbag system is configured to be mounted in the roof of a vehicle and subsequently, to deploy from the roof into a space between the vehicle occupant and an interior surface or structure of the vehicle. The overhead airbag system includes an external tether to guide the airbag during deployment. The external tether stabilizes the airbag, reducing danger to a vehicle occupant posed by rotation or skew of the airbag cushion.

  • Patent number: 6687916
Abstract: A band, including an extendable loop and worn around a user's arm, is used to apply a compressive force to an attacker's neck in self-defense. When the user positions the hand associated with the band against one side of the neck and grasps the extendable loop from the other side of the neck with the other hand, the user's arms become interconnected. This traps the attacker's neck between the user's interconnected arms and the extendable loop, and allows the user to apply a compressive force to the attacker's neck by simply extending the interconnected arms. The compressive force constricts the flow of blood in the carotid arteries that eventually incapacitate the attacker.
