  • Patent number: 9017774
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods for marking a coated substrate. In particular, the present invention relates to methods for marking a coated substantially cementitious substrate in the form of a cementitious building product. The method comprises the steps of treating at least a portion of an uncoated cementitious substrate to form indicia; and applying a surface coating on said cementitious substrate to at least partially cover said indicia such that a marking is formed.

Date of Patent: April 28, 2015
    Assignee: James Hardie Technology Limtied
Inventors: Christopher Alston, Greg Brunton, Peter Pagones, Joseph Sanegor
  • Patent number: 8900803
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods for marking a substrate. In particular, the present invention relates to methods for applying visual indicia to a substantially cementitious substrate in the form of a cementitious building product. The method comprising the steps of: irradiating a surface of said substantially cementitious substrate for a sufficient time and with sufficient energy to at least partially vitrify said surface thereby marking said substrate.

  • Patent number: 7497153
Abstract: The cutting tool shown generally as 1, has a disc with a peripheral cutting face. In this embodiment the cutting face includes an array of eight circumferentially spaced teeth 2. An open circumferential gutter 5 is located inboard of the teeth and is recessed into a lateral face of the disc. Fluid in the gutter drains into the passageways through the respective inlets under the apparent force due to rotation. A fluid passageway 9 runs between the gutter and the base of the each tooth. The fluid is thereby forced through the passageway and out of outlet 11.

  • Publication number: 20050284339
Abstract: A durable, nailable, lightweight and fire resistant fiber cement article that can be a cost-effective substitute for conventional building materials is provided. The fiber cement article can be profiled to resemble a roofing article such as a wood shake or slate. The fiber cement article incorporates a hydrophobe and a viscosity enhancing agent that are each selected to control the rate of hydration of the binder. The fiber cement article is durable, is walkable and nailable without cracking during installation and maintains walkablilty after exposure in service.

  • Patent number: 6824715
Abstract: A method for forming a laminated sheet material from a slurry having a liquid component. The method comprising the steps of: applying the slurry to a substrate in successive layers to form a wet sheet of predetermined thickness; applying at least one of the layers by spattering; removing the wet sheet from the substrate; and drying or curing the wet sheet so as to remove at least a substantial proportion of the liquid component and thereby forming the sheet material.
