  • Patent number: 10753883
Abstract: A method and/or system is provided for detecting inclusions (e.g., nickel sulfide based inclusions/defects) in soda-lime-silica based glass, such as float glass. In certain example instances, during and/or after the glass-making process, following the stage in the float process where the glass sheet is formed and floated on a molten material (e.g., tin bath) and cooled or allowed to cool such as via an annealing lehr, visible light from an intense visible light source(s) is directed at the resulting glass and thermal imaging is used to detect inclusions based on a temperature difference between the inclusions and surrounding float glass. In another example embodiment, inclusion detection may be performed without exposure of the glass to light from a light source(s).

  • Publication number: 20190187678
Abstract: A system and method are provided for monitoring a piping network. The method includes obtaining data comprising temperature, displacement, and vibration measurements from a plurality of sensor assemblies. The sensor assemblies are selectively installed at a plurality of locations in the piping network, and the piping network is subjected to at least one multi-phase flow effect during its operation. The method also includes analyzing the data using at least one model to: predict pipe life, detect an operational or pipe damage event, and/or trigger preventative maintenance.

  • Publication number: 20190002339
Abstract: A layer of or including substoichiometric zirconium oxide is sputter deposited on a glass substrate via a substoichiometric zirconium oxide inclusive ceramic sputtering target of or including ZrOx. The coated article, with the substoichiometric ZrOx inclusive layer on the glass substrate, is then heat treated (e.g., thermally tempered) in an atmosphere including oxygen, which causes the substoichiometric ZrOx inclusive layer to transform into a scratch resistant layer of or including stoichiometric or substantially stoichiometric zirconium oxide (e.g., ZrO2), and causes the visible transmission of the coated article to significant increase.
