Abstract: A method of peeling tubers includes providing a peeler device defining a cavity surrounded by a peeling mechanism, inputting tubers to be peeled into the cavity, directing electromagnetic radiation from an illumination device into the cavity,-detecting electromagnetic radiation reflected into lens of a camera from tubers located in the cavity during a peeling operation by the peeling mechanism, and operating the peeler device based on the reflected electromagnetic radiation detected by the camera. Also disclosed is an apparatus for carrying out the method.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a centrifugal-type food slicer of the kind having a cutting head comprising a plurality of blades and an impeller provided with paddles. The present invention also relates to method for slicing food using such a centrifugal-type slicer. An inclined configuration of the impeller paddles relative to a rotational axis of the impeller, cooperating with blades inclined relative to the central axis of the cutting head provides balanced turning forces on the unsliced product during a cutting operation.

Abstract: A method of cutting potatoes into a plurality of pieces that includes the steps of: (a) providing a potato to a cutting implement; (b) supplying a lubricating liquid onto the cutting implement to form a liquid film over at least part of the cutting edge; and (c) cutting the potato. Also disclosed is an apparatus for cutting the potatoes comprising: a tank for holding a lubricant, an outlet conduit from the tank communicating with an in-line mixer, a water supply conduit to the in-line mixer that is arranged to form a lubricating fluid from the lubricant and water, a mixer output conduit supplying a lubricating liquid from the in-line mixer onto the cutting edge of an implement to form a liquid film over the cutting edge, and an input conduit for adding potatoes to the tank from a potato peeling device.

Abstract: Disclosed is a mechanism for attaching a tuning bell of a musical instrument to the musical instrument. The mechanism includes a rail attached to the tuning bell and a hollow channel attached to a part of the musical instrument such as, for example, to a valve cluster. The channel has an exterior surface and an interior surface. The mechanism includes an adjustable clamp engaging the exterior surface of the channel. Also disclosed is method of using the mechanism which comprises the steps of positioning the rail within the channel and adjusting the clamp to compressibly engage the interior surface of the channel against the exterior surface of the rail until the rail is secured against the interior surface to prevent movement of the rail within the channel.
