  • Patent number: 8151985
Abstract: A container for storing at least two substances separately, for subsequent mixing, comprises two storage chambers. Both substances are maintained separately through means of an intervening seal that in one embodiment includes molded threads on its inner walls, a breakable bottom, and a seal rim portion. Activation occurs when the first chamber is screwed downward toward the second chamber. A second embodiment includes the same seal, but with no threads and simply a press activation system within a bellows sleeve. The first chamber may include various cap means through which the mixed substances may be poured out, including screw, spouted, snap-fitted, and plug-types. The seals of both embodiments may be reconfigured into two parts to adapt to a modified second chamber to accomplish the same results. The container may be enclosed in tamper-evident film that includes a perforated pull strip. Both embodiments can be adapted for beverage, medical, cosmetic, chemical, and many other container applications.

  • Patent number: 7426157
Abstract: An interval timer combining the features of a practice timer, means of measuring date and metronome into a single device for the purpose of measuring, recording, and displaying practice records over a period of weeks or months. During the measuring of practice time, the device may complement the passage of time by the use of lights, sounds, or vibrations. It features a display screen that can indicate total time practiced, current chronological time and date, and a record of practice accomplished over a period of chronological time. The device may also accommodate interchangeable face plates of electronic icons for user personalization of the device. An enhanced version may include means for displaying assignment and practice information.

  • Patent number: 6971284
Abstract: The ratchet wrench of this invention includes a jaw adjustment assembly connected with a jaw and gear assembly carried by a wrench head. Components of the jaw adjustment assembly include a scroll plate inside a cap operated by a jaw adjustment disk located above the cap. The jaw adjuster disk is connected with the scroll plate using a snap ring. Components of the jaw and gear assembly include a pair of jaws supported and guided inside a gear unit with the aid of parallel support rails. The support rails connect the rear unit with the jaws and support the jaw and gear assembly from a wrench head and handle. The two assemblies are pressed and held together by a splined inner surface of the cap interfacing with a splined outer surface of the gear unit. A typical pawl assembly provides the ratchet operation of the ratchet wrench.

  • Patent number: 6796033
Abstract: The utility knife of the present invention has a cutting blade that is extended to any desired length from the knife handle by providing a blade assembly and a blade deployment device supported in an internal cavity within a knife handle. In particular, the blade can be extended any desired distance from the front face of the handle between the full deployed position and the fully retracted position. No additional structure or locking devices are generally required to retain and hold the blade in a predetermined position from a handle opening when it has been deployed by the blade deployment device. Optional aspects of the invention include a blade position arm and indices, a locking collar and an elongated handle that may be made to articulate.

  • Patent number: 6678930
Abstract: The retainer or snap-ring tool of this invention includes a pair of jaws with only one of the jaws attached to a single handle. The jaws are disposed to be spread apart one from the other by a jaw positioning device. The lower end of each jaw is equipped with a tip to interface with the free ends of various types of snap-rings. The tips force the ring to extend or contract when placing the ring on a shaft or within a cylindrical bore of a body. The jaw positioning device comprises a threaded shaft having a positioning wheel formed integral with the shaft to rotate the shaft and move the pair of tips at the ends of the jaws with respect to one another. The tips remain a fixed distance from one another without gripping the handle. The universal tool of this invention works equally well for internally and externally applied snap-rings without any changing or modification of the tool.

  • Patent number: 6557442
Abstract: A wrench comprising a wrench head with a stud at one end, a handle, including a handle end with a second stud at one end and an intermediate handle having yokes at opposed ends. A first yoke is pivotally engaged with the wrench head stud and a second yoke is pivotally engaged with the handle end stud. A plurality of paired detent surfaces are arranged over end portions of the yokes and cooperates with a detent ring carried by the handle end. The intermediate handle includes a longitudinal bore and a transverse bore which passes through the longitudinal bore. A positioning member, movable between a locking position and a non-locking position, is carried in the transverse bore. An engaging member, movable between an engaged position and a disengaged position, is carried in the longitudinal bore. The positioning member is positionable to positively lock the engaging member with an associated stud and to allow the engaging member to become disengaged from the stud.

  • Patent number: 6382058
Abstract: Standard flex-head wrenches and other standard wrenches having a head or fastener end-working portion are improved by adding a second and even third joint within the handle portion of the wrenches. The additional joints may comprise the standard ball bearing detent and mated groove pinion portion alone in structure or in conjunction with a locking sleeve, which aids in biasing the handle in any number of predetermined positions.

  • Patent number: 6332277
Abstract: A level including a frame having a reference surface, a level sensor secured to the frame, and an articulated arm pivotally connected at one end to the frame for securing the reference surface to a test surface. The articulated arm includes an inner member pivotally connected to the frame at one end and an outer member extending from a free end of the inner member. The inner member is rotationally biased against the frame while the outer member is pivotally connected to the inner member and rotationally biased against the inner member. The inner and outer members are rotationally biased in opposite directions for folding against the frame. The level may also include spools, idler wheels, take-up fingers, and swivels for supporting the band.
