  • Publication number: 20080215014
Abstract: Slit valve technology is disclosed comprising medical slit valves and related methodology, the slit valves being either normally open or normally closed. A slit or slits are disposed in membranes or diaphragms spanning across the lumen of a cannula of elastomeric material with memory. Each slit valve is closed and opened by manual manipulation of an external actuator radially disposed outside the cannula. The elastomeric cannula are shown to be in the shape of a sleeve, which is connected to a housing of a medical valve assembly, although the present invention is not so limited.
