  • Patent number: 10605253
Abstract: A compressor system is provided with an impeller disposed to rotate in a compressor chamber. A diffuser extends around the impeller to collect fluid leaving the impeller. Main flow is discharged from the diffuser through an exit providing an opening that extends circumferentially around the compressor. A bleed annulus extends around the compressor and has a consistent cross-sectional area. A bleed port that opens the diffuser to the bleed annulus and that is configured to divert a bleed flow of the fluid from the main flow before discharge through the exit. The bleed port has a circumference around the compressor and a flow size that varies around the circumference. Variation in the flow size of the bleed port maintains a uniform flow distribution around the exit.

  • Publication number: 20170096911
Abstract: Compliant coupling systems and methods are provided for coupling a shroud to an engine casing. The complaint coupling system includes a retaining ring adapted to be positioned adjacent to the shroud and adapted to be coupled to the engine casing. The retaining ring defines a coupling channel about a circumference of the retaining ring and at least one notch that interrupts the coupling channel. The complaint coupling system also includes a first clip received within the coupling channel. The first clip has a biasing portion that extends into a space defined by the at least one notch, and the biasing portion is adapted to contact the shroud. The complaint coupling system includes a second clip received within the coupling channel.

  • Patent number: 7094024
Abstract: An integral assembly that may improve control over thermal and mechanical behaviors of assembly structures during various transient operation conditions is disclosed. The integral assembly comprises a continuous ring disposed coaxial with, and orthogonal to a central axis, the continuous ring comprising a plurality of surfaces, the plurality of surfaces having a continuous outer surface and a continuous inner surface; the plurality of surfaces being characterized by a continuous cross section having a first cross sectional dimension longitudinally disposed parallel to the central axis; the plurality of surfaces comprising a bell mouth surface in physical communication with a compressor shroud surface; the compressor shroud surface being in physical communication with a diffuser surface; and the diffuser surface being in physical communication with the bell mouth surface. The integral assembly comprising a compressor shroud is also provided.
