  • Patent number: 8877689
Abstract: Of the many compositions and methods provided herein, one example composition includes a treatment fluid comprising: an aqueous fluid; and a tar stabilizing polymer comprising at least one polymer selected from the group consisting of a styrene polymer, an acrylate polymer, a styrene-acrylate polymer, and any combination thereof.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 23, 2012
Date of Patent: November 4, 2014
    Assignee: Haliburton Energy Services, Inc.
Inventors: Philip Wayne Livanec, Greg Paul Perez
  • Patent number: 8741816
Abstract: Of the many compositions and methods provided herein, one method includes a method comprising: contacting tar resident in a well bore with a tar stabilizing polymer comprising at least one polymer selected from the group consisting of a styrene polymer, an acrylate polymer, a styrene-acrylate polymer, and any combination thereof; and allowing the tar stabilizing polymer to interact with the tar to at least partially reduce the tendency of the tar to adhere to a surface.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 8, 2012
Date of Patent: June 3, 2014
    Assignee: Halliburton Energy Services, Inc.
Inventors: Philip Wayne Livanec, Greg Paul Perez
  • Publication number: 20130008654
Abstract: A method for completing boreholes penetrating narrow gradient zones in a subterranean formation after drilling with an oil based drilling fluid for recovery of hydrocarbons. The method employs an epoxy-based resin composition with controllable density and rheology that provides a low equivalent circulating density and is compatible with the oil based drilling fluid. The composition acts as a substitute for cement in cementing operations including adhering casing to the borehole, zonal isolation, and consolidation.
    Type: Application
    Filed: July 5, 2011
    Publication date: January 10, 2013
    Applicant: HALLIBURTON ENERGY SERVICES, INC.
