Patent number: 12029151Abstract: Systems and methods for monitoring seed placement by a planting machine with a plurality of row units. An average seed placement metric is calculated for each individual row unit based on a data stream of sensor data corresponding to a defined calculation window. Each calculated metric is compared to a defined performance threshold and an error alert signal is transmitted based on the comparison. The calculation window can be adjusted by a user and the average seed placement metrics and the error alert signal are updated based on the adjusted calculation window. A graphical user interface also displays the calculated metrics for each individual row unit in a row data table and updates the row data table in response to receiving the user selection of the new calculation window.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 2021Date of Patent: July 9, 2024Assignee: DEERE & COMPANYInventors: Robert D. Boaz, Kyle A. Shipley, Greg T. Buse, Kurtis Krumm, Erich Wassilak, Tyler J. Van Steenhuyse, Benjamin R. Dow, Kevin Hixon

Publication number: 20210315144Abstract: An implement has an implement frame and a wheel for supporting the implement frame on a ground surface for movement in a direction of travel. The implement also includes a first basket coupled to the implement frame by a first arm and configured to work a portion of the ground surface, and a second basket coupled to the implement frame by a second arm and positioned rearward of the first basket relative to the direction of travel. The second basket is configured to work the portion of the ground surface after the first basket. A hydraulic cylinder is operatively coupled to the first arm and/or the second arm and configured to lift and lower the respective basket with respect to the ground surface to and from a raised position for travel. The hydraulic cylinder is further configured to regulate a pressure of the respective basket against the portion of the ground surface.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 18, 2021Publication date: October 14, 2021Inventors: David L. Patent number: 10952362Abstract: An implement has an implement frame, a wheel for supporting the implement frame on soil in a direction of travel, a first basket coupled to the implement frame, and a second basket coupled to the implement frame. The first basket works the soil such that any convolutions in the soil are reoriented to be substantially perpendicular to the direction of travel of the implement. The second basket is positioned rearward of the first basket, and works the soil such that the convolutions in the soil that are substantially perpendicular to the direction of travel of the implement are flattened.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 2018Date of Patent: March 23, 2021Assignee: DEERE & COMPANYInventors: David L. Patent number: 10743453Abstract: A basket rotates about a basket axis with respect to an implement frame when moving in a direction of travel. The basket includes first and second end plates and a plurality of blades extending therebetween. The blades engage the ground surface as the basket rotates and each include a first end and a second end positioned closer to the basket than the first end. The basket defines an internal volume between the first and second end plates and the second ends of the blades. An internal scraper is positioned within the internal volume of the basket such that a portion of the internal scraper extends rearward of a vertical plane extending through the basket axis in the direction of travel and vertically away from the ground surface above a horizontal second plane extending through the basket axis. The internal scraper extends at an acute angle with respect to horizontal.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 2018Date of Patent: August 18, 2020Assignee: DEERE & COMPANYInventors: Jacob W.
