  • Patent number: 11927170
Abstract: A hydrokinetic turbine system for harvesting energy from riverine and tidal sources, including a first floating dock, a marine hydrokinetic turbine mounted on the first floating dock, and a second floating dock. The system further includes a winch assembly mounted on the second floating dock and operationally connected to the first floating dock and a linkage assembly operationally connected to the first floating dock and to the second floating dock. The linkage assembly may be actuated to pull the first floating dock into contact with the second floating dock. The linkage assembly may be actuated to distance the first floating dock from the second floating dock, and the winch assembly may be energized to orient the first floating dock into a position wherein the marine hydrokinetic turbine is above the first floating dock and wherein the winch assembly may be energized to orient the first floating dock into a position wherein the marine hydrokinetic turbine is below the first floating dock.

  • Publication number: 20110295136
Abstract: An implantable pacemaker is provided with a far-field sensing channel which requires a reduced refractory period during the time when pacing pulses are delivered as compared with sensing channels using intra-cardiac electrodes. The far-field sensing channel may use the conductive housing of the implantable device or can and an indifferent electrode mounted on the device header as the electrodes for its differential inputs. Such a far-field sensing channel is able to sense activity occurring in either the atria or the ventricles for the purposes of arrhythmia detection and/or capture verification.

  • Publication number: 20050262253
Abstract: A scalable distributed multimedia streaming system employs at least one media station having a media director and a plurality of media engines. Each media engine incorporates media content storage, communications channels for retrieving and streaming media content over a network. The media director has a controller adapted for directing retrieval over the network of media content by a selected media engine, tracking content stored on the media engines and redirecting a content request from a media console connected to the one media station over the network to a selected one of the media engines storing content corresponding to the request for streaming. Multiple media stations are employed to expand the network using a media location registry as a central repository for storing the location of all media content in the media stations. Intercommunication between the media stations for transfer of content is accomplished through the network.

  • Publication number: 20050235047
Abstract: A media content distribution system for distributed multimedia streaming communicates over a network and incorporates multiple independent media stations, each having a media director for control and a number of media engines for storage, retrieval and streaming of media content. A content request from a media console connected to the network is redirected by the media director to a selected one of the media engines storing content corresponding to the request for streaming. The system includes at least one distribution center providing media content downloading capability and a media location registry communicating with the media director in each media station. The media location registry stores the location of all media content in the media stations.

  • Patent number: 6845094
Abstract: In an end to end fully internet protocol (IP) enabled network, a dynamic IP address space is used to address mobile hosts in order to facilitate mobility management. The network includes a wireless mobile network having a plurality of base stations each being associated with a portion of the dynamic IP address space. The base stations are operative to allocate dynamic IP addresses from the associated portion of the dynamic IP address space for each authenticated mobile host. Each of the base stations provides translation between the dynamic IP address space and a permanent IP address space so that the dynamic IP address space is transparent from the point of view of the mobile hosts. A gateway provides communicative coupling between the backbone of the wireless mobile network and a wire lined IP network. The gateway also provides translation between the dynamic IP address space and the permanent IP address space.

  • Patent number: 6810259
Abstract: A location update protocol is provided for use in a mobile communications network having a distributed cache for managing subscriber profile information associated with each of a plurality of subscribers of the network. The network includes a plurality of base stations each including a memory unit having a local database for storing: a local subscriber list including a plurality of locally owned cache entries each having an associated subscriber key value, and an associated locally owned subscriber profile; and a global subscriber list including a plurality of global cache entries each having an associated subscriber key value, and an associated location value indicating a node in the network at which an associated subscriber profile is stored. Each of the base stations is operative to transfer and copy selected ones of the cache entries to other ones of the base stations for the purposes of managing and accessing the distributed cache.

  • Publication number: 20020055915
Abstract: An apparatus and method for locating a data object corresponding to an input string. A plurality of tables is constructed in a memory to support the recognition of one or more input strings. For each input string supported there are a chain of tables linked together. Each table in the chain corresponds to a segment of the input string and has entries that contain a data object pointer field and a next table pointer field. Upon receipt of a segment of an input string, a key is computed for the segment to obtain an entry in a table corresponding to the segment. If the entry indicates there is another table in the chain, the next segment is obtained, its key computed and the table entry obtained. This continues until the last table is found. The data object pointed to by the data object pointer is then retrieved.
