Abstract: A razor handle for mounting a razor cartridge having at least one razor blade, which cartridge is pivotable about a cartridge pivot axis, is provided. The razor handle includes a grip portion, a cartridge mount portion, at least one biasing element, and a lock mechanism. The cartridge mount portion is pivotally attached to the grip portion and is rotatable about a cartridge mount pivot axis. The cartridge mount pivot axis is substantially parallel to the cartridge pivot axis. The at least one biasing element is configured to apply a biasing force against the cartridge mount portion that biases the cartridge mount portion in the normal first position. The lock mechanism is selectively translatable between a lock position and at least one unlocked position.

Abstract: A safety razor includes a razor cartridge connected to a razor handle. When the safety razor is at rest on a horizontal surface the areas of contact of the razor handle and the horizontal surface include a surface of an opposed end of the grip portion of the handle and a surface of a foot at a first end of the grip portion. When the safety razor is in this at rest position the razor cartridge is spaced from the horizontal surface. A shaving aid body of the cartridge that can be water swellable is also spaced from the horizontal surface. By application of an external force the safety razor can be rocked to a position where the razor cartridge additionally contacts the horizontal surface. When the safety razor is released from the rocked position it self-rights to its at rest position.

The razor cartridge also has a comb mounted to the housing that is movable by a user between a non-operable position and an operable position. When the comb is in the non-operable position the razor cartridge can be used for a normal shaving operation. As the comb is moved to the operable position for hair trimming, the guard is retracted so that it will not interfere with the passage of longer hairs between the teeth of the comb.
