Patent number: 9145026Abstract: A paint tray accessory and assembly provides a membrane cover for use with a paint tray and paint roller of conventional manufacture. The membrane cover comprises a first frame member, a second frame member and a fluid regulating membrane. The membrane is flexible and stretchable which provides means for more evenly coating the sleeve of a paint roller during use of the assembly. The membrane also provides a tractive surface for the paint roller sleeve. The frame members are configured to retain the membrane within the frame members and to protect the membrane during use. The first frame member is intended to remain in position while the second frame member is flexibly rotatable relative to the first frame member at the points of certain “breaks” between the two frame members, also considered a “hinged” point.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 2014Date of Patent: September 29, 2015Assignee: Gerhard-Sorenson CorporationInventor: Gregg R. Patent number: 6526728Abstract: A method and apparatus for grasping and advancing adjacent layers of thermoplastic film through the side sealing mechanism of a packaging machine includes a plurality of belts which travel about two sets of cooperating pulleys. Each pulley has two circumferential belt grooves defined within it, each belt groove being functionally adapted to allow the travel of a belt along it. A first line of travel is defined along a path which is parallel with the line of travel for articles moving along the wrapping machine. The second line of travel diverges away at a slight angle. The belts are truncated V-belts, the “truncated V” portion of the belts being disposed outwardly of the pulleys. Each set of pulleys is offset such that the belts cooperate in tooth-meshing fashion. A tail pulley of each set is mounted in an offset cam fashion and is spring loaded to apply tension to the belts. Disposed between the belt paths is a hot wire assembly having a similarly longitudinally diverging hot wire.Type: GrantFiled: October 25, 2000Date of Patent: March 4, 2003Assignee: Conflex IncorporatedInventors: Gregg R. Patent number: 6076225Abstract: A number of forms of painting trays and accessories are disclosed. These include a paint tray having an upper or intermediate foam pad across the top thereof to prevent spillage. The paint will only flow through the foam at a very slow speed. One embodiment is disclosed wherein the paint tray includes a cover and has a plurality of variable porosity pads. Another unit includes a round tray, a round pad, and a round applicator unit. Several painting accessories are described, including a painting pad having a plurality of wells therein as well as being made from a porous, sponge-like material.Type: GrantFiled: October 20, 1997Date of Patent: June 20, 2000Assignee: Gerhard-Sorenson Corp.Inventor: Gregg R. Patent number: 5678277Abstract: A paint edger apparatus adapted to afford close control over the location of a hard paint edge applied to a surface. The apparatus includes a grasping handle, a rotary guide disc and a rotary paint applicator pad. The centers of rotation of the guide disc and the paint applicator pad are offset from each other. In the preferred form, the handle is formed so as to provide first and second, offset spindles, and the handle includes a backing plate axially adjacent the guide disc. Rotating the handle about its own axis varies the position of the pad relative to the outer edge of the guide disc, and enables the paint pad edge to be moved closer to or farther from a guide surface engaged by the guide disc to precisely position the paint edge.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 1995Date of Patent: October 21, 1997Assignee: Gerhard-Sorenson Corp.Inventor: Gregg R. Sorenson

Patent number: 5598598Abstract: A handle assembly for adjustably positioning a paint roller or other tool or implement adjacent a work surface. The handle assembly includes a first hollow handle section, with an exposed exterior hand grip surface adjacent its near end, a second hollow handle section slidably received inside the first handle section, and a third section carrying the roller or tool at its far end and having its inner end sliding inside the second handle section. The second handle has a first releasable lock assembly at its near end, and the third handle section has a second releasable lock assembly at its near end. The second handle has a hand grip with a skin portion overlying but spaced from the outer diameters of said first and second handle sections to provide an annular recess for receiving the far end of said first handle section when the handle sections are telescoped into nested relation.Type: GrantFiled: April 13, 1995Date of Patent: February 4, 1997Inventor: Gregg R.
