  • Patent number: 8516864
Abstract: A latch apparatus for providing secure storage to an enclosure is disclosed. The latch apparatus can include an actuating device that operates to lock or unlock the latch apparatus in response to a control signal. The control signal can be communicated to the latch apparatus through an RF or other transmitted signal or through hardwires connecting the latch apparatus to the remote device. The latch apparatus can be maintained in either a locked state or an unlocked state without having to continuously supply power to the latch apparatus. The latch apparatus can include a latch hook that can be detent biased to both the open position and the closed position while the latch apparatus is in either a locked state or an unlocked state. The latch hook can move from the open position to the closed position while the latch apparatus is in a locked state. The latch apparatus can also have a thickness such that the latch apparatus will fit in the gap in which drawer slide hardware for an enclosure is installed.

  • Patent number: 7665812
Abstract: A locking system for drawers may include a lock with a lock driver that is configured for engaging a drive actuator. The drive actuator may have a lock bar slider in communication with a lock bar. A slave actuator may also be provided in communication with the drive actuator through a shaft. The drive actuator and slave actuator may be respectively positioned so as to lock opposite ends of a drawer. The locking system may also provide the lock with a lock driver that is prevented from being moved into a locked position when the drawer is opened. One of several different resulting arrangements prevents unintentional or inadvertent locking until the drawer is placed into engagement with a drive actuator.

  • Patent number: 6550874
Abstract: An adjustable hanging file system for a drawer having side panels utilizes frame members comprised of spaced skirts with a connecting crown to thereby define a u-shaped cross section and bracket members inserted between the skirts to support the frame members. Additional hanging bracket members incorporated with cross rail frame members support the cross rail frame members on frame members attached to a file drawer.

  • Patent number: 4925257
Abstract: An improvement is provided in a piece of furniture having a cabinet with first and second drawers, each selectively slidable relative to the cabinet between an open position and a closed position. The improvement comprises a lock bar mounted to the cabinet for translatory movement relative to the cabinet in first and second opposite directions between first and second positions, and cooperating structure on the lock bar and first and second drawers for preventing simultaneous movement of the first and second drawers from their closed position to their open position.

  • Patent number: 4914932
Abstract: The present invention comprises an improvement in a lock of the type having a cylinder with an associated internal cavity, a key operated lock plug rotatably mounted in the cylinder cavity and a coupling mounted for rotation relative to the lock cylinder for association with a lock member that is movable upon rotation of the coupling between locked and open states. Shoulders are provided on the plug and coupling and upon effecting relative rotation between the coupling and plug through a change key the shoulders can be selectively brought into interfering, facing relationship to prohibit withdrawal of the plug or misaligned to allow removal of the plug. An access key, that is longer than the change key, in a fully seated position in the plug keyway, extends into the coupling opening and is thereby keyed to the coupling so that turning of the control key directly operates the coupling.

  • Patent number: 4838624
Abstract: An improvement in an actuator of the type having a slide plate with an L-shaped slot, guide structure for movement of the slide plate in a reciprocating path between locked and unlocked positions, structure for connecting the slide plate to a locking member so that the locking member follows reciprocating movement of the slide plate, a crank for rotation about an axis and having a pin offset from the axis, and structure mounting the crank to the channel so that the crank is rotatable back and forth about its axis through a predetermined range with the pin in the slot to thereby cause the pin to engage and shift the slide plate between its locked position and its unlocked position upon the crank being rotated. With the pin at the juncture of the two slot legs, the slide bar can be shifted to its unlocked position without rotating the crank. With the pin so situated and all drawers closed, the crank is jammed and cannot be rotated.

  • Patent number: 4609233
Abstract: An improved locking system for furniture of the type having a plurality of drawers, at least one of which is locked from a remote position through a keyed operator module by translating a slide bar to interfere with one of the drawers in a locked position. A flexible, rotatable cable extends between the operator module and a connector/actuator module associated with the slide bar. The connector/actuator module comprises a crank with an integral shaft and rotatable, eccentric lug which is directed in an L-shaped slot in a slide plate. Rotation of the cable imparts translatory movement to the slide plate which is followed by the slide bar. In another aspect of the invention, the operator module, which is geared to the cable through a translatable rack, causes extension of a bolt on the rack to lock a second drawer simultaneously as the slide bar realizes a locked position.
