    Abstract: A connecting device includes, a female element constituted by a socket 1 and a male element having a spigot which is adapted to be inserted in a complementary chamber in the socket 1. Disposed in the chamber is a cavity which receives a resilient retaining member 16. The spigot 16 has a recess in which a portion of the retaining member is received when the spigot is inserted in the chamber.
