  • Publication number: 20250026531
Abstract: A can end comprises a metallic end surface in which an opening is formed that is closed by a closure piece of the metallic end surface, wherein the closure piece is separated from the surrounding end surface by a microgap extending at least sectionally along the margin of the end surface. A first end region of the closure piece is connected to the surrounding end surface via a pivot bearing. The can end further comprises a tear-open member that engages at a second end region of the closure piece, said second region being opposite the pivot bearing. The microgap is interrupted between the first end region and the second end region by at least one holding web via which the closure piece and the surrounding end surface are connected to one another in a bonded manner.

  • Patent number: 11878835
Abstract: A metallic can end having a reclosable opening has a microgap or a weakening line peripherally around the opening, a sealing frame composed of plastic material surrounding the opening region, a closure unit composed of plastic that is disposed within the microgap or weakening line and that is pivotably attached to the fixed end surface via a pivot bearing. The sealing frame and the closure unit cooperate in a sealing manner. The metallic end region disposed within the peripheral microgap or the weakening line is received and held in the opening region of the end. The sealing frame is bonded to the fixed end surface and the closure unit is bonded to the upwardly pivotable metallic end region. Except for a possibly provided lacquer layer, the inner end side is at least largely free of lamination and the like.

  • Publication number: 20230331435
Abstract: A can lid comprises a metallic lid surface in which an opening is formed which is bounded by a closed margin of the lid surface and which is closed by a closure piece. The closure piece is separated from the surrounding lid surface by a microgap extending at least sectionally along the margin of the lid surface. A margin of the closure piece and the margin of the surrounding lid surface adjoin one another at the microgap. The closure piece can be moved out of the plane defined by the opening to release the opening. The can lid further comprises a layer composed of a plastic material applied to a flat side of the metallic lid surface in a manner covering the microgap. The margin of the closure piece and the margin of the surrounding lid surface are offset from one another transversely to the plane defined by the opening.

  • Patent number: 11485540
Abstract: A metallic can end having a reclosable opening, a microgap or weakening line provided in the metallic end surface and peripheral about the opening, a sealing frame connected to the end surface and surrounding the opening region, a closure unit connected to the upwardly pivotable metal end region disposed within the microgap or weakening line, that is pivotably attached to the end surface via a pivot bearing. The sealing frame and the closure unit are composed of plastic material and cooperate in a sealing manner with one another via sealing and latching ribs that form sealing edges with associated reception grooves. The metallic can region disposed within the peripheral microgap or weakening line is received and held in the opening region of the end. The sealing edges are configured such that the radially innermost sealing edge still seals when the radially outer sealing edges have just been released.
