  • Publication number: 20120029748
Abstract: A system and method of controlling a hybrid electric vehicle powertrain is provided. The hybrid-electric powertrain includes an engine, a battery, an electric motor, an electric generator and a transmission with a planetary gear unit. The planetary gear unit mechanically couples the engine, the electric motor and the electric generator to effect power delivery to vehicle traction wheels. Stored electrical power is delivering to the electric motor to drive the traction wheels in an electric-only operation mode. A first amount of torque is applied to the planetary gear unit with the electric generator in order to reduce the amount of wear to the planetary gear unit in the electric-only operation mode.

  • Patent number: 8095595
Abstract: A system (and corresponding method) that enables automatic (and/or manual) summarization of significant events that occur within a collaborative discussion is provided. The summarization promotes efficient review and asynchronous participation where a user can trigger playback of a series of events that occurred within a discussion. The system can automatically summarize ‘high points’ or significant events from within an immersive collaborative environment. ‘World-marks’ or other tags can be employed to mark, locate and/or render the summarized content.

  • Publication number: 20110265620
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure generally provide a cutting die system. The cutting die system includes a substrate, at least one blade, and an ejector coupled to the substrate. The ejector includes a compressible portion having a top surface and a bottom surface opposite the top surface. The bottom surface is coupled to the substrate and a protective layer is cured to the top surface. A method of die cutting a blank according to an embodiment of the present disclosure includes directing a blank between a cutting die and an anvil, the cutting die comprising a substrate. An ejector coupled to the substrate is compressed between the cutting die and the blank. A scrap piece is cut from the blank as it passes between the cutting die and the anvil, and the scrap piece is ejected by releasing the compressed ejector.
