  • Publication number: 20080059888
Abstract: A system and method is disclosed for reconfiguring the graphical user interface (GUI) of a mechanically vibrated touchscreen display associated with a portable mobile communications device that is operable in a variety of modes. The reconfiguration of the GUI is based on the orientation of the portable mobile communications device. An orientation sensing mechanism senses whether the portable mobile communications device is currently in a portrait or landscape orientation. An orientation sensing application accesses an orientation profile that associates each mode of operation with either a portrait or landscape orientation and determines which mode of operation is the default mode for the sensed orientation of the portable mobile communications device. The GUI of the mechanically vibrated touchscreen display is then reconfigured for the default mode of operation.

  • Publication number: 20070288499
Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product is disclosed for tagging a media/multimedia file created by a device possessing an RFID transponder tag reader with RFID transponder tag content data. The RFID transponder tag reader equipped device creates a media/multimedia file and determines whether a data containing RFID transponder tag is present and within range of the RFID transponder tag reader. If so, a connection is established between the data containing RFID transponder tag and the RFID transponder tag reader such that the data from the RFID transponder tag is received via the RFID transponder tag reader. The received data is then attached to the media/multimedia file to create a tagged media/multimedia file.

  • Publication number: 20070230747
Abstract: There is disclosed is a mobile device for detecting, tracking, and translating motion into an image that can be rendered on a mobile device display. A motion sensor contained within the mobile device and coupled with a processor can detect and track motion in a two-dimensional plane. A motion selector button is disposed on the housing of the mobile device and coupled with the processor. The motion selector button actuates and de-actuates the motion sensor such that motion is only detected and motion data forwarded to the processor while the motion selector button is actuated. The mobile device further includes a display for rendering an image corresponding to the detected motion. The processor translates the captured motion data into a scaled two-dimensional image that is completely rendered on the mobile device display.

  • Publication number: 20070129003
Abstract: A method and apparatus for receiving common program content at a mobile station in different networks is described herein. While in a home network, the mobile station receives selected program content via a first broadcast channel. When the mobile station moves into a visited network, a mapping processor in the mobile station maps the first broadcast channel to a second broadcast channel broadcasting the selected program content in the visited network. Subsequently, the mobile station receives the selected content on the second broadcast channel as long as the mobile station remains in the visited network. As a result, the mapping process is transparent to the user.

  • Publication number: 20070097929
Abstract: A wireless communication device is configured to use location information available within the device to tailor the retrieval of electronic feed content. For example, the device may automatically use its current location to retrieve localized news feeds, localized podcasts, localized web pages, etc. In one embodiment, the device retrieves electronic feed content and then filters that content based on the location information to identify locally relevant content that may be displayed or otherwise made available to a user of the device. In another embodiment, the device provides all or part of its location information to a remote content server, and the content server sends localized content based on that information. In at least one embodiment, the device establishes and terminates subscriptions to localized feeds as needed responsive to changes in the device's current location. Further, the device may store or otherwise track locations and retrieve localized content for prior locations.

  • Patent number: 7194257
Abstract: A wireless communications device comprises a transceiver, memory, and a controller. The transceiver permits a user to communicate with a remote party via a wireless communications network. Whenever the user places an outgoing call, the controller stores characteristics of the outgoing call in memory. These include the phone number of the remote party, the time of day and/or day-of-week the outgoing call was made, the location of the wireless communications device when placing the outgoing call, and the identity of a short-range transceiver with which the wireless communications device established a communications link when placing the outgoing call. Periodically, the controller analyzes the stored characteristics, and determines a call pattern for the remote party based on the users call history. Based on the determined call pattern, the controller is able to predict when the user will likely place a subsequent outgoing call to the remote party.
