  • Patent number: 11914264
Abstract: Photonic ring modulators with high tuning efficiency and small footprint can be formed in a hybrid material platform from a silicon bus waveguide vertically coupled to an optically active compound semiconductor (e.g., III-V) ring resonator. The performance of the modulator, e.g., in terms of the tuning efficiency and the maximum insertion loss, may be optimized by suitable levels of an applied bias voltage and a heater power of a heater optionally included in the ring modulator. The disclosed hybrid photonic ring modulators may be used, e.g., in photonic transceiver circuits with high lane count.

  • Patent number: 11598435
Abstract: A valve for a refrigeration system includes a valve body, a guide seat arranged in the valve body, a piston plug that has a metering slot and is axially movable relative to the guide seat to open and close the valve, and an adjustable valve stem that is axially movable to engage the piston plug. The piston plug is movable between a closed position in which the piston plug is seated against the guide seat and engaged with the valve stem to prevent fluid flow through the valve, a metering position in which the piston plug is moved away from the guide seat and engaged with the valve stem to enable a predetermined amount of forward fluid flow through the valve, and a check valve position in which the piston plug is seated against the guide seat to prevent reverse fluid flow through the valve.

  • Patent number: 9138495
Abstract: The present invention relates to bifunctional compounds, the bifunctional compounds for use in molecular imaging and therapy, methods of molecular imaging using the bifunctional compounds and kits including the bifunctional compounds for use molecular imaging. The bifunctional compounds have a tripodal hydroxypyridinone chelating portion and may be conjugated to a targeting group so that the compounds target specific cells or tissues in a subject.

  • Patent number: 5414378
Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for resetting an electronic device in response to a voltage transient. The apparatus implements the method steps of detecting the transient at an input to, and receiving an output from, a voltage sensing circuit in response to the transient. The method also includes the step of providing an electronic device reset signal at the output of the voltage sensing device by clamping the input of the voltage sensing circuit to the output of the voltage sensing circuit through an interconnected positive feedback clamping capacitor. Timing capacitors are used to extend the duration of the reset pulse.

  • Patent number: 5383202
Abstract: A method is provided of attenuating a signal value within erroneous frames of a logarithmically coded digital signal. The method includes the steps of detecting an erroneous frame of the logarithmically coded digital signal and adding an attenuation value to a frame exponent of the erroneous frame.
