  • Publication number: 20120179262
Abstract: A humeral component of a shoulder prosthesis encloses a stem module which has a shank and an upper shank portion with a stem support surface. A joint adapter is adapted to hold either a liner or a spherical cap. The joint adapter has an adapter support surface which interfaces with the stem support surface. Further, the stem support surface and the adapter support surface have corresponding radial arc shaped sections which allow positioning of the joint adapter against the stem module at different inclination angles. For fastening the joint adapter to the stem module, a bolt or screw is provided.

  • Patent number: 8048161
Abstract: Glenoid prosthesis with a hybrid design (combining both peg and keel designs), and surgical methods for reconstitution of a shoulder joint. The hybrid design combines both peg and keel components into one device. The hybrid glenoid component of a shoulder prosthesis includes an oval body having a concave lateral articulating surface and an opposing convex medial surface. The medial surface is provided with a plurality of pegs and a single inferior protrusion. The pegs are used to attain both a superior location as well as a central location. The inferior protrusion provides stability in the superior-to-inferior translation of the humeral head, as well as rotational articulation of the same.

  • Publication number: 20100262153
Abstract: A parallel drill guide and system which maintains contact on the bone at various angles. The parallel drill guide comprises a fixed sleeve and a parallel, axially slidable, sleeve for guiding the insertion of two parallel wires or pins into bone at any angle while maintaining contact between the bone and the guide. The drill guide is also provided with a locking mechanism that locks the slidable sleeve into position at any lateral distance relative to the fixed sleeve, using a novel off-axis locking device.

  • Publication number: 20100125297
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for fixation of bone to bone, or soft tissue to bone. The apparatus comprises two fixation devices (for example, two buttons) joined by a biologic material (for example, a graft or tendon). Each fixation device is provided with at least one opening that allows the passage of the flexible material attached to the biologic material. • Patent number: 7641695
Abstract: A modular endoprosthetic radial head implant includes an end cap secured to a cannulated body held to bone by a fixation element. The fixation element supports the cannulated body on a resected radial bone end, for example. The fixation element of one embodiment features a threaded stem with a spherical head. The stem fits distally into the cannulated body and extends through a hole formed by the distal end of the cannulated body. The spherical head nests inside the cannulated body. Polyaxial alignment between the cannulated body and the fixation element is locked using a jam nut tightened inside the cannulated body. An end cap fits into place proximally on the cannulated body. The end cap is formed of a joint surface material to provide a bearing surface.

  • Publication number: 20090156903
Abstract: An articulating hook elevator for manipulating tissue during arthroscopic procedures. The articulating hook elevator comprises a shaft, a proximal end, and a distal end provided with an articulating paddle. The hook may be actuated by a switch and can articulate into a standard tip for traditional manipulation of tissue, or into a rotated or articulated position. In this manner, effective manipulation and retraction of tissue from the surgical site without tissue collapse may be achieved, allowing a surgeon to better visualize the internal condition of the arthroscopic site and speed up the overall procedure.

  • Patent number: 7468074
Abstract: A graft harness for securing a ligament in a bone tunnel takes the form of a shaped plug having a proximal end and a distal end. A radial groove is formed in the distal end of the plug which accepts a looped ligament graft. A suture passageway formed through the plug transverse to the groove accepts a length of suture. The proximal end of the plug features a concave configuration adapted to accept the distal end of an interference screw. A ligament graft is secured in a bone tunnel using the graft harness by seating the looped graft within the groove to form a harness/graft construct, passing a length of suture through the suture passageway, and drawing the harness/graft construct into the tunnel using the length of suture looped through the suture passageway. The graft is secured primarily using an interference screw which engages the concave proximal end of the harness. The harness provides secondary fixation of the graft in the bone tunnel.
