Publication number: 20220257987Abstract: Collapsible insulated covers for devices (e.g., fire sprinklers) are contemplated. The collapsible insulated covers have one or more couplers configured to couple a device. The collapsible insulated covers collapse to thereby position the one or more to couple the device. It is contemplated that the collapsible insulated covers can create one or more seals that reduce heat transfer into its interior space (i.e., pocket) where the device or a portion of the device is placed for thermal insulation.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 14, 2022Publication date: August 18, 2022Inventors: Gregory Martinez, Tony Garcia, Vaughn Barnes

Publication number: 20200332826Abstract: An insulated bolt cap for covering a bolt on an outer plate of an aircraft nacelle is described. The bolt is used to attach an insulation blanket to the outer plate of the aircraft nacelle. The insulation blanket has one or more cavities or depressions with a bolt end exposed in the valley of the cavity. The insulated bolt cap is made of an upper plate coupled with a lower plate, and insulation material therebetween. The underside surface of the lower plate of the insulated bolt cap has an opening sized and dimensioned to mate with the bolt. The top surface of the insulated bolt cap can have a reinforced region with one or more indentations for receiving a tool.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 17, 2020Publication date: October 22, 2020Inventors: Gregory Martinez, Vaughn V. Patent number: 8416187Abstract: A system and method is provided for using motion-capture data to control navigating of a cursor in a user interface of a computing system. Movement of a user's hand or other object in a three-dimensional capture space is tracked and represented in the computing system as motion-capture model data. The method includes obtaining a plurality of positions for the object from the motion-capture model data. The method determines a curved-gesture center point based on at least some of the plurality of positions for the object. Using the curved-gesture center point as an origin, an angular property is determined for one of the plurality of positions for the object. The method further includes navigating the cursor in a sequential arrangement of selectable items based on the angular property.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 2010Date of Patent: April 9, 2013Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Jeffrey Margolis, Tricia Lee, Gregory A. Martinez, Alex Aben-Athar Kipman

Patent number: 7991890Abstract: Communication between a game console having a communication port and a portable device is facilitated by determining that a portable device has been directly connected to the communication port, determining the protocol associated with the portable device, and communicating with the portable device using a driver associated with the determined protocol. An ancillary application may handle the communication between the game console and the portable device while a game or entertainment application executes concurrently on the game console. The game application may execute in a reserved predetermined amount of hardware resources of the game console while the ancillary application may execute concurrently using the remaining hardware resources.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 2004Date of Patent: August 2, 2011Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Brian Lloyd Schmidt, Christopher M. Pirich, Derek H. Smith, Gregory A. Martinez, Jon Marcus Randall Whitten, Joshua G. Poley, Maciej Maciesowicz, Michael Cory Maston

Patent number: 7804484Abstract: An input device includes a plurality of character input keys and is operable in a single alphabetic character input mode and a multiple alphabetic character input mode. In the single alphabetic character input mode, an individual character input key is assigned a single alphabetic character, and activating the individual character input key inputs the alphabetic character. In the multiple alphabetic character input mode an individual character input key is assigned multiple alphabetic characters, and the specific character that is input as a result of activating the individual character input key depends upon the number of times the individual character input key is activated.Type: GrantFiled: July 3, 2006Date of Patent: September 28, 2010Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Gregory A. Martinez, Richard S. Lum, William Guo

Patent number: 7590779Abstract: A system and method for enabling users and developers to store data on a number of different types of local and remote devices connected to a multimedia console or a gaming console. The range of available storage devices creates issues that are addressed to avoid apparent inconsistencies in storage performance (e.g. latency). A consistent method of reading and writing data is provided such that end users and developers do not have to be concerned with restrictions and limitations inherent to various devices.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 2004Date of Patent: September 15, 2009Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Gregory A. Martinez, Brian Lloyd Schmidt, Christopher Pirich, Jeffrey Edward Simon, Jon Marcus Randall Whitten, Michael Cory Maston, Tyler Scott Carper, Yasser B. Asmi, Richard Henry Irving

Publication number: 20080163284Abstract: Described are a system and a corresponding user interface that couple to a media service to provide browse-filtered access to media content, in a manner that facilitates location and/or selection of a particular content item. For example, filtering categories (e.g., new arrivals, genre, and so forth) are listed vertically for navigation and selection in one column, with representations of available content (e.g., top downloads) listed vertically in another column. Queries corresponding to a home page menu as controllable via user input provide the listed items, whereby the user may navigate and select content and filtered submenus via a simplified user interface input mechanism, such as a D-Pad or the like. One filtering category may include a ratings-based category, in which a user is matched to content items based upon ratings provided by at least one ratings source affiliated with the service (a friends list).Type: ApplicationFiled: December 29, 2006Publication date: July 3, 2008Applicant: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Gregory A. Martinez, Steven R. Gunn, Paolo V. Malabuyo

Publication number: 20080163133Abstract: Entertainment devices often display interfaces that are perceived from a distance. To render the interface intelligible at a distance, a limited interface is used. However, often the user is presented with a large number of choices, which can be tedious and time-consuming to review using such a limited interface. The selection from among multiple sorting mechanisms, all from within a single screen, can enable the user to quickly sort, in the manner most appropriate for that user, the available choices. If the sorting order results in the relevant choices being listed last, a reverse sort option can be used, again from within the same screen.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 29, 2006Publication date: July 3, 2008Applicant: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Gregory A. Martinez, Steven R. Gunn, Paolo V. Malabuyo, Vadim Gorokhovsky, Thamer Abanami

Publication number: 20060068911Abstract: Communication between a game console having a communication port and a personal computer is facilitated by implementing a shared folder on the personal computer that can be accessed via the communication port. The game console and personal computer may communicate via a Server Message Block compatible code, a Universal Plug and Play networking protocol, and the like. To save memory, the SMB compatible code (or other code) may not support the full set of SMB protocol features (or other protocol features).Type: ApplicationFiled: September 30, 2004Publication date: March 30, 2006Applicant: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Christopher Pirich, Derek Smith, Gregory Martinez, James Yagelowich, Jon Whitten, Maciej Maciesowicz, Mark McCracken, Michael Maston, Andrew Murphy
