Abstract: Method and apparatus are provided for producing a yarn comprising; supplying a web of staple fibers to a first region; forming said web into a bundle at a zone intermediate said first region and an after-defined second region; tensioning said fibers at a second region to draft said bundle into a yarn advancing at a predetermined rate; and collecting said yarn at a third region at a rate substantially equal to said predetermined rate of advancement.

Abstract: Apparatus is provided for fluidically attenuating streams of material into filaments wherein a plurality of elements are adjustably mounted for movements substantially along and transverse to the path of advancement of the filaments and for lateral movement with respect to each other.

Abstract: This invention relates to a method and apparatus for collecting strands formed from streams of molten material issuing from orifices in a feeder having a blower positioned to direct gas into contact with streams of molten material to attenuate the streams into filaments. A walled passageway is positioned for the passage therethrough of the gas from the blower and the filaments. The passageway is adapted with a plurality of apertures adapted for the passage of a gas therethrough. Means for collecting the filaments into a continuous strand is positioned for contact with the filaments passed through the walled passageway.
