  • Publication number: 20050155478
Abstract: A nicked cutting rule includes a shank portion having two substantially parallel shank side surfaces extending in a direction of length of the rule separated by a thickness of the shank portion. The nicked cutting rule further includes a V-shaped cutting edge portion defined by two cutting edge portion surfaces that intersect at ends remote from the shank portion to define a cutting edge, the cutting edge portion having portions separated in the direction of length of the rule by a plurality of notches extending inwardly from the cutting edge toward the shank portion. The nicked cutting rule also includes an intermediate portion between and integral with the shank portion and the cutting edge portion, the intermediate portion being thinner than the thickness of the shank portion and including two intermediate portion surfaces extending between the two shank side surfaces and the two cutting edge portion surfaces.

  • Patent number: 5669519
Abstract: A two container assembly comprises a first container for containing a fluid and a second container for containing a fluid. The first container has a handle and a handle opening, and the second container has a resilient sidewall, a top end and a bottom end. The second container is dimensioned to fit into the handle opening of the first container. The two container assembly has a means for snap-fitting the second container into the handle opening or frictionally engaging the second container in the handle opening. The means for snap-fitting preferably comprises a concave portion in the resilient sidewall of the second container. The concave portion has a shape that mates with a convex shaped portion of the handle. For example, the handle may have an oval cross-section. Also, the second container has a top-to-bottom axis which is substantially perpendicular to a top-to-bottom axis of the first container when the second container is located in the handle opening.

  • Patent number: 5537905
Abstract: A perforating rule for perforating paper and plastic including a shank portion having substantially planar side surfaces parallel to a central plane therebetween, a cutting portion having a V-shaped cross-section with the narrower end of the V providing a cutting edge, the cutting portion having portions separated by a plurality of notches extending inwardly from the cutting edge toward the shank portion, and an intermediate portion interconnecting the shank and cutting portions having opposite side surfaces extending from the shank portion to the cutting portion. The thickness of the rule at about 0.024 inch from the cutting edge is about 0.014 inches, the notches have a width in the direction of the length of the rule of about 0.007 inches and a depth of about 0.025 inches, and the portions of the cutting portion have a width in the direction of the length of the rule greater than the width of the notches.

  • Patent number: 5240755
Abstract: Labels and a label web without a carrier web which labels are formed by perforating a web with a perforator having 20-120 spaced teeth per inch and which provide ties securing the label to the web which have a maximum dimension in the direction of the label periphery of 0.007 inch so that when the label is removed from the web the ties are not visible to the naked eye. At least 50% of the web is perforated along the label periphery to ease removal of the labels from the web, but a sufficient number of ties is retained, depending on the strength of the web material and the pulling force required, to retain the label attached to the web during pulling of the web for further processing.
