Abstract: An audio/video distribution system and method for providing media to an end-user. The media has an audio component and a video component. At least the audio component is received and played at an end-user device. The system includes a controller, a display device and a synchronization tool. The controller generates a video signal and an audio signal. The display device is coupled to the controller for receiving and displaying the video signal. The synchronization tool is implemented at the end-user device and is configured to allow a user to synchronize playback of the audio signal at the end-user device to the display of the video signal at the display.

  • Publication number: 20110130887
Abstract: A control unit is attached to or embedded within a refrigeration appliance to monitor electric power voltage and/or frequency supplied by the mains. If the unit detects a sag or peak in either the voltage or frequency, the control unit either separates any high demand elements of the appliance from the mains to reduce demand in a sag or energizes the elements in a peak. When the control system separates the refrigeration compressor from the mains, a food spoilage monitoring system monitors the food storage compartments. This system utilizes food industry temperature and time algorithms to ensure the food does not spoil. If food spoilage could occur, the unit re-energizes the compressor to allow it to lower the temperature provided the power is sufficient to operate the compressor unit without damaging it. Once the sensed temperature is restored to a safe level, the unit separates the compressor from the mains.

  • Patent number: 7544291
Abstract: A water purification system utilizing a plurality of ultraviolet light emitting diodes and associated method of use is disclosed. This includes an inlet, an ultraviolet radiation chamber, and an outlet, wherein the inlet is connected in fluid relationship to the ultraviolet radiation chamber and the outlet is connected in fluid relationship to the ultraviolet radiation chamber to allow water to flow between the inlet and the outlet through the ultraviolet radiation chamber, wherein the ultraviolet radiation chamber is positioned adjacent to a plurality of ultraviolet light emitting diodes. The plurality of ultraviolet light emitting diodes may be mounted on a flexible electrical circuit board and/or in the form of an array. Moreover, the ultraviolet radiation chamber can be a transparent tube with the plurality of ultraviolet light emitting diodes positioned on the outside of the transparent tube or positioned within the transparent jacket.

  • Publication number: 20080217419
Abstract: A communicating environmental control system for a dwelling or building is provided. The environmental control system is intended for use in a dwelling which may be unoccupied for a long period of time, e.g., months. The control system operates in an economy mode to prevent damage to the dwelling and its contents by avoiding condensation of moisture within the dwelling. At the same time, the control system minimizes operating costs by running more when energy costs are lower and running less when energy costs are higher. The control system switches to a comfort mode when the dwelling occupants return. The control system is in communication with a remote owner, a remote utility, or a remote service provider, or more than one of these, through the Internet or other communication system.

  • Publication number: 20080113609
Abstract: A combined supply and exhaust apparatus for an air using appliance is provided. The combined supply and exhaust apparatus includes air supply and air exhaust passages. The air supply and air exhaust passages extend between inlets and outlets. A common wall separates the air supply passage from the air exhaust passage. The air supply passage supplies air to the appliance and the air exhaust passage exhausts air from the appliance.

  • Publication number: 20080110044
Abstract: A dryer for drying moist goods is provided. The dryer reduces the amount of conditioned air used during the drying cycle by drawing drying air from the exterior of the building rather than the interior of the building thereby reducing the overall energy efficiency of the building. The dryer includes an air flow passage extending between a fresh air inlet and an exhaust air outlet. A drying chamber forms a portion of the air flow passage and is interposed between the fresh air inlet and the exhaust air outlet. A blower moves air through the air flow passage. The fresh air inlet and exhaust air outlet are separated from one another by a common wall and are positioned adjacent to one another. The fresh air inlet and exhaust air outlet are configured to attach to a combined supply and exhaust duct such that exhaust air and fresh air are passed between the dryer and the exterior of the building through the combined supply and exhaust duct.

  • Publication number: 20080110041
Abstract: A method for drying moist goods is provided. The method uses a dryer positioned within a building connected to a dual flow duct that includes a fresh air passage and an exhaust air passage. The method includes the steps of supplying drying air to the dryer through the fresh air passage, passing air through the moist goods, and exhausting the air from the building through the exhaust air passage of the dual flow duct. The method may include the steps of transferring heat energy from the exhausted air to the drying air. Also, the flow of supplied air and exhaust air may flow concentrically relative one another or in side-by-side relation. Furthermore, the method may include sensing characteristics of the air and controlling the dryer according to the sensed characteristics.

  • Patent number: 7226496
Abstract: A spot ventilator and method for spot ventilating a localized environment of a building is provided. The spot ventilator includes a passage and at least one corona discharge apparatus. The passage extending between an inlet positioned in the localized environment and an outlet. The at least one corona discharge apparatus positioned in relation to the passage such that a fluid from the localized environment is drawn into the passage through the inlet and is expelled through the outlet. The method of ventilating a localized environment of a building includes the steps of sensing a first change in the localized environment, energizing a corona discharge apparatus to produce an electric wind, drawing air from the localized environment into a passage via the electric wind and expelling the air from the passage through the outlet.
